Nintendo surprise dropped a Princess Peach: Showtime! demo

Princess Peach: Showtime! is here, giving the Mushroom Kingdom monarch a chance to break out of the damsel role and do a little world-saving of her own. While the game is largely pitched to younger audiences, there are still a few things about the game that might inspire questions, and we’re here to help!

In the costumes that Peach wears have gotten a lot of the spotlight as they provide Peach with unique abilities and personas, but the multitude of dresses that Peach can unlock in the game are no less spectacular. Over the course of her adventures in the Sparkle Theater, Peach can unlock almost 40 gowns that she can wear while walking around the theater and at the beginning of many levels. These beautiful dresses will even appear in her cutscenes, can add a bit of unique flavor, and are often tied to achievements.

EA Sports FC 24 topped the UK physical game charts this week, despite stiff competition from four new entries.

Madame Grape is the last boss of , the final obstacle preventing the theater's restoration. Unlocking her fight will require completing multiple floors of levels, as well as accumulating a few dozen Sparkle Gems. As a reward for this effort, Peach gets one more transformation exclusive to the ultimate boss fight.

After Super Princess Peach in 2005, Nintendo’s iconic princess takes the center stage once more in Princess Peach: Showtime! It’s available now for Nintendo Switch and features Peach going up against the sorceress Grape and her minions, the Sour Bunch, teaming up with the guardian Stella to save Sparkle Theater. Princess Peach might be the one who takes center stage in her action-adventure game but it is really her variety of costumes that deserves the spotlight. Each costume that Peach changes into transforms her into an entirely different character. Whether becoming a swordfighter, ninja, or even a mermaid, Peach loses her normal skills in favor of more thematically appropriate abilities and skills with each outfit.

It’s fair to say that after nearly 40 years since her debut in the original Super Mario Bros., Princess Peach is well overdue a proper starring role.

Tchia made waves when it originally launched in March 2023, thanks to its wholesome blend of ship sailing, sandbox exploration, and endearing adventure in a world based on the developer's homeland of New Caledonia. As announced at the Future Games Show, to celebrate the one year anniversary of Tchia's initial release it's available right now on Steam, along with a surprise reveal that it will also be coming to Nintendo Switch in the Summer.

Nintendo has been keeping a tight lid on the developer behind Princess Peach: Showtime! since it was announced last year.

If there was one thing I could count on growing up in the ’90s, it was the weekly family trip to Blockbuster. While my mom or dad browsed the new movies, I took my baby sister’s hand and headed straight to the video game section. More often than not, I knew what I was renting: The Great Circus Mystery Starring Mickey & Minnie, a Super Nintendo Entertainment System game released by Capcom in 1994. I was charmed by the fact that I could play as Minnie — and that Minnie could transform into different characters, like a makeshift Ghostbuster with a vacuum that sucks up enemies, a jungle explorer that gave her acrobatic moves, or a cowgirl with a pop gun and hobby horse. The game was a staple in my childhood playtime until it suddenly wasn’t anymore.

World of Warcraft has been a pioneer when it comes to open-world online multiplayer, and yet, the game has kind of missed out one of the big recent trends in that space – battle royale. Well, apparently that changes now, as Blizzard has announced World of Warcraft “Plunderstorm,” a new pirate-themed 60-player battle royale limited-time activity.
