Warner Bros. Games and developer NetherRealm have released the first gameplay of Mortal Kombat 1 DLC guest character Peacemaker, featuring the voice and likeness of actor John Cena.
Mortal Kombat 1’s Peacemaker is based on the character played by Cena in DC’s The Suicide Squad and Peacemaker series, and joins the game on February 28 as part of the early access period for Kombat Pack owners. Peacemaker then goes on general sale on March 6.
In the video, we see Peacemaker use a variety of weapons in typical over-the-top style, as well as his helmet abilities. His bald eagle sidekick, Eagly, can be called in to help out. Peacemaker’s Fatality is a gruesome affair that sees the character jetpack straight into his opponent, tearing the upper half of his body away before sonic booming it into bits. The Fatality ends with Peacemaker feeding the remains to Eagly.
Meanwhile, the trailer also gives fans a first look at gameplay for Janet Cage, a new DLC Kameo fighter available as part of the Kombat Pack and for standalone purchase in March 2024. Janet Cage is an alternate reality version of Mortal Kombat’s famous deadbeat Hollywood action star Johnny Cage.
And finally, crossplay finally hits Mortal Kombat 1 on February 28 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X and S, and PC via Steam and the Epic Games Store. Crossplay, which is not available with the Nintendo Switch version, lets players matchmake in 1 vs. 1 Kombat League and Kasual matches, invite friends for 1 vs. 1 private matches, and view leaderboard stats across all supported platforms.
A Mortal Kombat 1 free trial weekend takes place from March 7-10 on PS5, Xbox Series X and S, and PC via Steam. This includes access to the base roster of main characters and Kameo Fighters, all online and local multiplayer modes, Towers, Story mode (Chapters 1 and 2 only), and Invasions (Johnny Cage’s Mansion only). An Xbox Game Pass subscription is required to access the Mortal Kombat 1 Free Trial. A PlayStation Plus membership is required to access online multiplayer matches.
Mortal Kombat 1 launched in September 2023 and while it shot to three million sales, the game’s core community has grown increasingly disgruntled with its aggressive monetisation, poor communication, and lack of updates. But NetherRealm has committed to story DLC and a "big surprise after that".

Mortal Kombat 1 is having a big day today. The grisly fighting game is not only kicking off Season 4: The Huntress, it's also adding a new playable character and crossplay — sorry, krossplay — functionality, opening up the community across all platforms.
Like previous entries in the series, Mortal Kombat 1 is rolling out plenty of DLC fighters, with the game’s first “Kombat Pack” including Omni-Man from Invincible, Quan Chi, Peacemaker from Suicide Squad, Ermac, Homelander from The Boys, and Takahashi Takeda.
Mortal Kombat 1 fans think that the latest season of Invasions, which is named "Season of Chaos" in the game's files, has mixed up Mileena's theme with Havik's.
NetherRealm Studios has announced that Mortal Kombat 1’s fourth season of Invasions, Season of the Huntress, is live until April 16th. A new trailer announces rather blandly that players must battle an army of Ultra Mileenas. Yes, that’s really it, though the cameos from past versions of Mileena in the art are cool. Check it out below.
‘s fourth season is officially out, giving players the chance to earn a ton of new rewards. It also brings Peacemaker, who arrives in the game as the latest DLC character.
NetherRelam has just released the patch notes for the new Peacemaker update, which is now available in Early Access to those who purchased the game’s Premium Edition. While he was once a relatively obscure DC Comics antihero, Peacemaker (real name Christopher Smith) has garnered mainstream attention over the past few years thanks to WWE star John Cena’s performance in DC Extended Universe projects like The Suicide Squad and the Peacemaker series on Max. This has led to Peacemaker being included as a DLC guest fighter in Mortal Kombat 1 alongside the previously released Omni-Man and the upcoming Homelander.
The day has finally come for Peacemaker fans to step into the shoes of the DC anti-villain in Mortal Kombat 1, becoming available to those who purchased Kombat Pack 1 as one of the previously announced DLC characters. And with that, we've also gotten a sizable patch that includes a number of fixes.
Peacemaker just went live in Mortal Kombat 1 and, as most fans had been guessing, his unique gear piece lets players change (and even remove) his iconic helmet.
