Like previous entries in the series, Mortal Kombat 1 is rolling out plenty of DLC fighters, with the game’s first “Kombat Pack” including Omni-Man from Invincible, Quan Chi, Peacemaker from Suicide Squad, Ermac, Homelander from The Boys, and Takahashi Takeda.
The latest of these DLC characters, who officially joins the roster today, is Peacemaker. But how does this wayward superhero with John Cena’s chin from the latest Suicide Squad movie and ensuing self-titled HBO Max series actually play? And perhaps more importantly, how do you pull off his gruesome Fatalities? Don’t worry, we’ll quickly get you up to speed on the ins and outs of Peacemaker…

As you can see, each Fatality has to be performed a certain distance away from your opponent. If you want to get a better sense of what we mean by “close," "mid," and "far,” just choose Learn from the main menu then pop into Fatalities, and the game will show you the exact ranges you need to be standing at. Every fighter in MK1 has a pair of Fatalities – one that’s available from the start and one that won’t be added to your move list until you unlock them (here’s how you can do that). That said, you can still do all Fatalities, even if they haven’t been officially unlocked, if you know the right inputs.
Here’s how to pull off Peacemaker’s two Fatalities:
Pest Exterminator– Down, Forward, Down, Back Kick (Mid)
Fatality #2 – Forward, Back, Forward, Back, Front Kick (Mid)
Peacemaker isn’t the speediest or most agile kombatant, with very little in the way of arial offense, but he’s a solid heavy-hitting brawler with some good combos that can relieve opponents of 40 or 50 percent of their life bar, even without burning any meter. He has a number of ranged moves, most notably his gun and his bird buddy “Eagly” he summons to the battlefield, and some good get-in moves, like his torpedo attack. The best strategy I’ve found so far is to shoot your opponent from afar, get in close with torpedo, then start chaining together some heavy combos. Another key to Peacemaker is his forcefield, which makes him immune to projectiles for a limited time, thus making it even easier to get in close to opponents and start busting out the combos.
Mortal Kombat 1 can be played on PC, Xbox Series X/S, PS5, and Switch. The Kombat Pack that includes Peacemaker will set you back $40 and is also included in the MK1’s $110 Ultimate Edition. You can check out more of Wccftech’s Mortal Kombat 1 guides here.

SNK’s library of fighting franchises tend bleed into each other a bit, but back in the day, the company was best-known for the Fatal Fury series. Eventually, the King of Fighters series, which included characters from multiple SNK games, largely supplanted Fatal Fury, but now we’re getting a Furious return. While they teased it previously, today SNK officially announced Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves, which will combine classic gameplay with the new “REV” system. Much like Street Fighter 6, the new Fatal Fury will also introduce a more casual “Smart Style” mode that will allow you to easily pull off special moves. You can check out the debut trailer for Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves, below.

Back in late 2020 new Montreal-based studio Reflector Entertainment made a bit of splash when they revealed Unknown 9: Awakening at The Game Awards. The game’s reveal cinematic was very impressive, and next-gen consoles had just launched, so there was some hope that this was perhaps what we could expect from the new generation (sadly, not quite). Reflector also had ambitious plans for a full Unknown 9 multimedia universe with novels, comics, and more announced. Annnd then we didn’t really hear anything further about Unknown 9 for years, to the point many suspected it was vaporware.
NetherRealm Studios has released a new Mortal Kombat 1 video featuring actor and wrestler as he discusses his DLC character, Peacemaker. The character is now available to purchase for anyone who didn’t already have him through the game‘s Season Pass.
Embracer Group gobbled up a lot of studios during its 2020-era spending spree, but perhaps the biggest acquisitions were Saber Interactive (World War Z, many, many ports) and Gearbox Software (Borderlands). It’s clear Embracer had big plans for Saber and Gearbox, as both were spun into entire company divisions with other smaller studios reporting to them, but those plans have changed – Embracer’s fortunes took a turn when a $2 billion investment from Saudi Arabia fell through and the company has been desperately cutting costs since. Apparently, this means two of their crown jewels have to go.
After being announced for one of the biggest fighting game franchises, John Cena's popular Peacemaker character is also now headed to Injustice 2 on mobile. While it may not be as big of a development as Peacemaker coming to Mortal Kombat 1, fans of the antihero will be thrilled to have another game in which they can play as him.
NetherRelam has just released the patch notes for the new Peacemaker update, which is now available in Early Access to those who purchased the game’s Premium Edition. While he was once a relatively obscure DC Comics antihero, Peacemaker (real name Christopher Smith) has garnered mainstream attention over the past few years thanks to WWE star John Cena’s performance in DC Extended Universe projects like The Suicide Squad and the Peacemaker series on Max. This has led to Peacemaker being included as a DLC guest fighter in Mortal Kombat 1 alongside the previously released Omni-Man and the upcoming Homelander.
The day has finally come for Peacemaker fans to step into the shoes of the DC anti-villain in Mortal Kombat 1, becoming available to those who purchased Kombat Pack 1 as one of the previously announced DLC characters. And with that, we've also gotten a sizable patch that includes a number of fixes.
