After being announced for one of the biggest fighting game franchises, John Cena's popular Peacemaker character is also now headed to Injustice 2 on mobile. While it may not be as big of a development as Peacemaker coming to Mortal Kombat 1, fans of the antihero will be thrilled to have another game in which they can play as him.
Injustice 2, released back in 2017, has been the latest entry in the popular DC Comics fighting game franchise for quite a while now. Although developer NetherRealm Studios is far busier with its arguably more beloved Mortal Kombat universe, the Injustice series is still a fun way to play as DC heroes and villains, and the mobile version is an easy-to-pick-up yet extremely challenging portable fighter.
Now available to unlock worldwide, Peacemaker joins the Flawed Justice team along with the movie versions of Black Adam and Hawkman, and his teammates improve his power when they're all deployed together. As long as they're all fighting together in a match, Peacemaker builds up Peace Stacks for every five seconds he's tagged in, which gives him and his teammates certain buffs—making him a pretty strong Injustice 2 character.
Meanwhile, NetherRealm releasing beloved characters for the long-running Injustice 2 has been a nice strategy to keep the game alive. It seems the possibilities for a new Injustice game keep getting slimmer the more the studio does well in this current era of Mortal Kombat, and fans may have to accept that a new entry will take longer. It also likely doesn't help that parent company Warner Bros. is in so much flux on the business side.
Meanwhile, as the world waits for Injustice 3, NetherRealm (and the fans) seem to be happy adding live adaptation versions of heroes and villains to both Injustice 2 and Mortal Kombat 1 with each new DC title that comes out, and it's probably safe to expect more of this in the exciting James Gunn era of the company. It's one edge that DC has over Marvel, and it may be enough to tide loyalists over until the time finally comes for the next game.
Injustice 2 is the second installment in the Injustice series and introduces new superheroes and villains as they collide in Mortal Kombat-inspired action.

NetherRelam has just released the patch notes for the new Peacemaker update, which is now available in Early Access to those who purchased the game’s Premium Edition. While he was once a relatively obscure DC Comics antihero, Peacemaker (real name Christopher Smith) has garnered mainstream attention over the past few years thanks to WWE star John Cena’s performance in DC Extended Universe projects like The Suicide Squad and the Peacemaker series on Max. This has led to Peacemaker being included as a DLC guest fighter in Mortal Kombat 1 alongside the previously released Omni-Man and the upcoming Homelander.
