Mortal Kombat 1 fans are arguing about whether or not The Boys' Homelander looks "off" in the recent gameplay clip that was shared by Ed Boon on Twitter.
At launch, Mortal Kombat 1's roster was largely praised for how it reinvented the classic characters we know and love and breathed new life into the 3D era fighters who hadn't been seen in the series since the 3D era (not counting Nitara, of course). As great as the starting roster was, the game's first Kombat Pack hasn't been received quite so well, with fans unhappy with how many guest characters there are and their limited content.
Although it's true that there's a lot more focus on non-Mortal Kombat characters this time around, it's hard to argue against Omni-Man and Peacemaker being the most exciting and talked-about additions to the game so far. There's still one more big guest character to come in the Kombat Pack, though - Homelander from The Boys.
Ever since Homelander was confirmed to be in Mortal Kombat 1, he's easily been the most-anticipated new character, which makes sense considering how popular The Boys has been over the past few years. That being said, there's been a fair amount of controversy with his inclusion too, with most of the attention going towards the fact that he's seemingly not voiced by Antony Starr.
We're still a few months away from Homelander getting into Mortal Kombat 1, but Ed Boon decided to give fans their first look at the character on Twitter the other day. The short clip shows Liu Kang and Homelander clashing and gives us a good look at the milk lover's appearance, although the footage notably doesn't include him talking at all.
You'd think that Homelander being silent would be the bigger controversy of his brief reveal, but that's not the case. Since he was shown off, a lot of fans, such as Twitter user RainyJady, have suggested that his character model looks "off", with some pointing towards his smooth face and strange facial animations. Some even hope that he'll get a model rework like the Joker did in Injustice 2.
Although I can see what some fans mean by Homelander looking "off" since we just see his face twitching a whole bunch, I don't think his model actually looks bad. That's just a digital Antony Starr, guys.
Others, including Twitter user X_AZEEZ3, have mocked how twitchy Homelander's face is during the clash, which is true of most Mortal Kombat 1 characters. Not everyone agrees that Homelander doesn't look right, though, as a lot of fans say that he looks "perfect" and is just a good a representation of the character as the Call of Duty model was.
