Insomniac Games has successfully managed the challenging feat of balancing a large and varied cast as players assume control of both Peter Parker and Miles Morales throughout the game. Yuri Lowenthal returns as Peter Parker in. Lowenthal has been praised for his performance as the web-slinger in both of Insomniac's previous games, alongside other titles such as and. The actor is widely regarded as one of the best portrayers of the character.
In, Peter dons the Venom symbiote, which serves as an allegory for addiction and shows Peter going into darker territory than before. As a result, Lowenthal delivers a deeper, sharper, and more aggressive tone as a symbiote-corrupted Peter. His character brutally defeats his foes and clashes with his loved ones in some incredibly tense, emotional scenes.
Nadji Jeter returns once again as the younger Spider-Man, Miles Morales. Jeter appeared as the character in a supporting role in before getting his own title,. He has also voiced Miles in and the 2017 animated series.
Miles was mentored by Peter before coming into his own as a superhero in his own title. However, now the duo works more as equals — even if Miles does still seek some guidance from Peter at times. Between his mentor becoming corrupted by the symbiote and his father's killer Mr. Negative being on the loose, Miles is tested in many ways throughout 's campaign.
Mary Jane Watson will be playing a key part in, and Laura Bailey will be returning to voice her. MJ faces plenty of obstacles throughout the game's campaign, with J. Jonah Jameson returning to run the Daily Bugle after the two publicly clashed during the promotion of MJ's book. While her relationship with Peter is certainly stronger than it was in, she also seems hesitant to fully commit to moving in with him after he inherited Aunt May's home in Queens. This relationship becomes even more strained with the introduction of the symbiote.
MJ will be assisting the Spider-Men throughout, investigating the various threats to New York. Once again, players will also assume control of the character in a series of levels, much as they did in the first game. However, this time around, MJ seems far more adept in the field, with much of her gameplay adopting stealth
