It's Impossible To Platinum Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth Without A Physical Copy

Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth players seemingly can't platinum the game on the current patch, forcing any trophy hunters to revert to a previous update. However, it's not possible to go back to a previous build with digital copies of the game, meaning that the current fix only works for those who have the game on a disc.
This bug was spotted by Kotaku and affects the side quest Can’t Stop, Won’t Stop. Ever since the latest patch, the game has been incorrectly calculating the player's score, making it impossible to get the amount of points you need to beat the mission. Since this means you're leaving part of the game incomplete, it locks you out from getting every single trophy, and therefore, stops you from getting the all-important platinum trophy.
The Kotaku writer who encountered the bug has also shared a fix, but it's only possible if you have a physical copy of the game. If you do, you can uninstall and reinstall the game from the disc while your PlayStation 5 is disconnected from the internet. This will put you on the launch day build of Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth, making it possible to beat Can’t Stop, Won’t Stop.
If you bought the game digitally, then you'll need to have your PS5 connected to the internet to download the game in the first place, so this fix won't work. Instead, you'll probably be left waiting until Square Enix rolls out another patch, or perhaps a hotfix that just addresses this bug since so many players have reported it since the last update.
At the time of writing, PSN Profiles shows that just 0.2 percent of players have unlocked the platinum trophy. Unsurprisingly, the forums show players warning each other not to install the latest patch, so this is clearly a widespread issue.
Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth is available exclusively on PlayStation 5. It launched to overwhelmingly positive reviews on February 29, praised by both fans and critics alike. It received its first major update on March 21 - the same patch that introduced the Can't Stop, Won't Stop bug - which made bug fixes and performance improvements. More updates are expected, with even Final Fantasy 7 Remake getting an update recently, although this was to make an odd change to the game's ending ahead of Rebirth's release.
