With the launch of Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 just around the corner, our team at Insomniac is excited to share one of the ways we can all #BeGreaterTogether – through accessibility! So today, I’d like to highlight some of the notable accessibility features swinging into the game at launch on October 20, then I’ll pass it over to Sam Schaffel, Insomniac Games’s Accessibility Design Researcher, who will provide an update on more features arriving in a post-launch update.

With a month to go until launch, developers Insomniac Games have announced that Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, the long-awaited sequel to the 2018 superhero hit, has officially gone gold and completed development, meaning it’s on track for its release next month, and fans can officially get hyped for its release.

Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 is easily one of the more anticipated PlayStation 5 exclusives coming out. From the talented team at Insomniac Games, our next iteration of the franchise series is nearly here. Of course, there is always the fear that something would delay this game further back into the 2023 calendar year. However, that’s not the case because today, we got the official word that the development team has officially reached the fabled gold status for their game project. 

Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 is one of the biggest games left in 2023 that fans are dying to get their hands on. The title has been getting lots of information and trailers lately, and Insomniac Games isn’t afraid to “spill some tea” on what you might be able to see and do as you swing around the city. As gamers found out earlier this year, when you’re in the open-world setting of New York, you’ll have the option to swap between Peter Parker and Miles Morales. That’s important because not only is this game about both characters but there are tasks and missions specifically assigned to them.

Insomniac Games has revealed the time it should take to complete . The highly anticipated sequel seems to have much more for players to enjoy, from a New York map that's almost doubled in size with the inclusion of Queens and Brooklyn to the ability to play as both Peter Parker and Miles Morales, swapping between them instantly across the open world and optimizing a variety of gadgets and special abilities across both heroes.

Last week further cemented the hype around Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, as a duo of trailers brought forth information about the 65 suits you’ll be able to put onto Peter Parker or Miles Morales as they attempt to save the city, the digital deluxe exclusives you can get, and the massive amount of stuff to do in New York City. However, that wasn’t the only piece of information that fans got. A demo went around for certain people; through this, more insight was brought about the Symbiote Suit and the “catalyst” villain for the game, Kraven The Hunter.

It's perhaps difficult to grasp — especially for younger fans — how vibrant the legacy of Spider-Man, the world's favourite web-crawler, is in video games. Over the years, we know Spider-Man from his many incarnations in animated TV shows, films, and comic books. Sam Raimi's take on the character propelled it to new heights of popularity. More recently, Spider-Man films in the Marvel Cinematic Universe and Sony Pictures' Miles Morales animated features have established their own identity. But the web-swinging, quippy superhero has a long and illustrious history in video games, too. Before Rocksteady's Arkham games rewrote the superhero games playbook, an iconic lineup of Spider-Man games from Activision were some of the best that the genre had to offer.

To say that Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 is one of the most hyped games this year would be an understatement. It’s the sequel to 2018’s Marvel’s Spider-Man, which sold millions. Insomniac Games dropped a new gameplay trailer, showcasing the various open-world activities that New York offers. As it turns out, regardless of frame rate, you’ll be enjoying ray tracing throughout.

Sorry, Spider-Gwen fans, it looks like Gwen Stacy won’t be showing up in Marvel’s Spider-Man 2. Or at the very least she won’t be in the narrative. The video game is one of the more anticipated PlayStation 5 exclusives coming to the platform this year. However, if you’re hopeful that Insomniac Games will finally open up the franchise to feature Gwen in some capacity, it doesn’t look very hopeful. Recently, The Gamer managed to ask about the character when speaking with the narrative director for Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, Jon Paquette.
