A hot new update for Helldivers 2 has dropped just in time for the weekend, and it’s a big one. Helldivers 2 update 1.000.12 is all about raising the server cap to allow for more concurrent players, hopefully putting the ‘Servers at capacity.’ errors and waiting queues to bed over the next few days.
It’s now known what the new server cap is, but Arrowhead Game Studios had previously had to lower the cap the 460,000 concurrent players last weekend in response to a huge influx of new players and some kind of bottleneck or database write limits. The team has issued three more patches through the past week, targeting a variety of issues and bugs, but has also worked hard on the server backend and now seems confident that they can raise the limit once again.
SteamDB has tracked the highest PC player count in the game as being 457,000, so expect that to be broken tonight!
Elsewhere, this update has fixed a black screen issue with players getting stuck in cinematics, while an update yesterday – patch 1.000.11 – fixed several crashes, a smattering of PC-specific GameGuard issues, and implemented a new kick for players who remain idle for 15 minutes, to help clear space on the servers.
However, there’s a bevy of known issues still being worked on. You might still be hit with login rate limits and title screen errors, and there’s missing text and other problems. Find details of those below.
Here’s the full patch notes for the last couple of days:

If you're a Palworld player on Xbox, an important patch has been rolled out to ensure that your save data is actually saving correctly, after some players started to see things go awry when their data got a bit too big for the game to handle.
makes a point of recommending the use of firearms in the war for Super Earth but one player is going a completely different route. When there are countless Automatons and Terminids swarming the galaxy, it stands to reason that taking them out will require some heavy firepower either shot from orbit or through the barrel of a gun. Having said that, sometimes a dedicated Helldiver just needs to get down and dirty, trading in an Eagle Strafing Run for the butt of their rifle.
The managed democracy of Super Earth wants players to perceive that the Terminds are evil and disgusting arthropods in however, the government has obscured the actual truth behind the war. The game drops hints that humans have sown the seeds for the current conflict for nearly a century. While the reasons for war are varied, the driving force for the ongoing Terminid War is the fuel extracted from decomposing genetically modified bugs.
Is it just me, or did that week race on by? In video games, it was highlighted by the Xbox Partner Preview and Dune: Awakening’s reveal, but just in general the past five days have felt a tad quicker than usual. Maybe it is just me.
Former James Bond star Pierce Brosnan has shared a new name as his top choice to portray the iconic spy in the upcoming 007 movies.
The biggest threat to democracy in isn't bugs or Automatons — sometimes, it's other players. Despite being a relatively new game, has already developed a devoted community. Dragon's Dogma 2's release is right around the corner, and given that it's launching over a decade after its predecessor, there's no doubt that plenty of us are excited to see what the sequel has in store.
Announced for PS5 at The Game Awards last year, No Rest for the Wicked has returned with a lengthy gameplay showcase. Narrated by developer Moon Studios — the Austria-based team behind the Ori games — the footage shows huge promise. It's an isometric, dark fantasy RPG where you make your own character, experiment with various weapon-based fighting styles, and engage in bloody battle.
It’s been another brutal week in the video games industry. Sure, there’s been massive highlights like the launch of Final Fantasy VII Rebirth, but the crushing wave of layoffs and redundancies that is sweeping across the games industry has hit Sony, EA, Deck Nine and more. The only glimmer of hope is seeing developers potentially being spun off into independence instead of closed down.
Live-service games can feel like a blight on the video game industry sometimes, but if proves anything, it's that the situation is a little more complicated than that. As a third-person, bigger budget sequel to an acclaimed top-down shooterpacks a lot of interesting action and strategic gameplay into an online co-op experience. It's also had a bit of a problematic launch, with overburdened servers, optimization issues, and way too many error codes making it difficult to actually play the game — but it's still managed to quickly attract a community of ardent fans.
