There’s a big new update for Helldivers 2 with patch 1.000.200 out now on PS5 and PC and bringing a sweeping set of balance changes to missions, stratagems, weapons, enemies and Helldivers.
The last big balance patch was instantly unpopular for how it changed the go-to meta for players on higher difficulty, so we’ll have to wait and see how this one is received, but there’s more buffs than debuffs mentioned in the patch notes. In particular, the Arc Thrower, Anti-Materiel Rifle, Breaker Incendiary, Dominator, Recoiless Rifle and Spear have all been buffed in various ways, while the Slugger has been nerfed most significantly.
It’s not just the weapons, though. Retrieve Essential Personnel mission have been made easier, and Arrowhead is halving the effect of mission modifiers to stratagem cooldowns, while medium and heavy armour take reduced damage, and the Spewer bugs do less damage.
However, Bile Titans can no longer be stunned, Destroy Command Bunkers missions have been made more challenging, and there’s two new planetary hazards in the game: Blizzards and Sandstorms.
For PS5 players, there’s also the blessed relief of a fix for the loadout bug that would always reset the weapon sets between play sessions. Thank goodness!
