Helldivers 2 Player Has Unique Ideas For More Planetary Hazards

The Helldivers 2 debacle has reached new hellish lows as the year's best-selling game is now unavailable on Steam in over 170 countries. 

Sony’s recent decision to make PlayStation Network logins mandatory for Steam players to be able to continue playing Helldivers 2 hasn’t gone down well with the community, to say the very least. The game has been met with widespread backlash, and among several concerns, one that’s been raised by many is the fact that with PSN not being available in a number of countries, Helldivers 2 is going to become unplayable for players in those regions.

Steam is making unexpected moves in the gaming world, refunding Helldivers 2 players despite their playtime exceeding the usual two-hour limit. Helldivers 2, developed by Arrowhead Game Studios, has been a popular multiplayer game on both PlayStation and PC platforms. However, recent controversies surrounding mandatory PlayStation Network (PSN) account linking for PC players have led to widespread discontent among the gaming community.

Earlier this week, Helldivers 2 players on PC were told that they'd soon need to link their Steam account to a PlayStation Network (PSN) account. Two days later and the game has received 100,000 new negative reviews on Steam.

Helldivers 2 has been one of 2024's most beloved titles ever since launch, proving that live service titles can be extremely popular if they're properly supported and fans are properly respected. Unfortunately, Arrowhead is now throwing a lot of that goodwill into the trash, as players recently found out that they'll need to sign up to a PlayStation Network and link it to Steam if they want to continue playing the game past June 4.

A touch of the cooperative gameplay seen in smash-hit shooter Helldivers 2 is coming to Halo Infinite, thanks to the efforts of a dedicated group of players. The new mode is being created entirely using Forge mode, the native Halo Infinite level editor.

Helldivers 2 has achieved remarkable success following its launch earlier this year, partly due to its availability on PC. Helldivers 2, a cooperative third-person shooter developed by Arrowhead Game Studios and published by Sony, launched simultaneously on PlayStation 5 (PS5) and PC in February 2024. This departure from Sony's traditional release strategy aimed to tap into the growing PC gaming market.

Helldivers 2's Stalker enemies have reportedly gained a mutation with the game's latest update, which allows them to cloak their bodies entirely and sneak up on players. Helldivers 2 released an update several days ago, making numerous balance changes that could shake up the meta. It brought nerfs to some weapons, including the JAR-5 Dominator and the RL-77 Airburst Rocket Launcher. In addition, the update buffed Automaton enemies, such as Scout Striders and Devastators, slightly increasing their fire rate and durability.

The franchise features an incredible variety of antagonists, but one particularly strange detail regarding a group of villains has gone mostly unremarked upon for decades. Although recent titles have tended towards having more individual true villains, a trend that has produced some of ’s most terrifying characters, the traditional «Team» still has a role to play in any given region. However, while all Teams have their own unique aesthetic, one also has a much more subtle, and ironic, quirk visible on close examination.

Blizzard just announced it will not be holding a BlizzCon event in 2024. Though this unfortunate news may disappoint fans, Blizzard will be appearing at Gamescom, Dreamhack, and other live events instead.

Last year’s Assassin’s Creed Mirage was very much a back-to-the-basics moment for Ubisoft’s flagship franchise, opting to have a smaller world with a gameplay loop focused on stealth and parkouring, rather than the RPG mechanics that the series has become known for. Whether or not we’ll ever see a direct follow-up to Mirage is a question that some series fans have wondered at since the game launched last October, and though there’s no concrete answers on that front yet, its development team certainly seems open to the idea of making more games with Mirage’s protagonist Basim.

With the release of Stardew Valley Update 1.6, both new and returning players have been jumping in to try out each of the different starter farms, leading many to share their farm layouts to assist and inspire others.
