A new Helldivers 2 patch is now live on PC and PlayStation 5, addressing a major issue that made the game's current server woes even worse.
Patch 1.000.11 introduces a variety of fixes to the game, such as fixes for multiple crashing issues, inability to select online missions in Galactic War Map, issues with GameGuard and Windows firewall, and other issues. Most importantly, the patch introduces an auto-kick feature that kicks players back to the title screen if they remain idle for over 15 minutes. This is an extremely welcome feature, as players squatting in the server prevented other players from logging into the game.

While Arrowhead may have addressed the AFK players' situation, it will take more time and effort to fix Helldivers 2's server issues. Helldivers 2 is broken at launch. That much is almost unquestionable. The game has many high highs and also abysmally low lows. While I can recommend it for players who are seeking a good time due to the physics and the wacky situations a group of players can find themselves in at lower difficulties, it also is a tough recommendation for players seeking thrills with challenging yet fair content. That may change in the future if the developers can fix all the bugs and connection problems.

presents players with an abundance of different tools to eliminate the deadly armies of the Terminids and Automatons and Arrowhead Studios is giving fans some insight into how those Stratagems are created. One of the core components of the popular co-op shooter is the ability to call down equipment and support from the skies, most of which take the form of explosive air strikes or precision missile launches. They're undoubtedly one of the most fun aspects of and director Johan Pilestedt wants everyone to know how the team creates them.
makes a point of throwing droves of enemies at players but those who do their best to avoid combat may be shocked to learn that enemies have a few extra tools in their arsenals to detect sneaky players. During some of the game's larger open-world missions, Helldivers have the option to engage with roving bands of foes or, if they're careful, sneak past without raising the alarm. That's easier said than done, especially when the Terminids can use more than one of their sense to track their prey.
The Helldivers 2 devs have a pretty simple process for designing new Stratagems: they just make a new one whenever they get bored of the old selection. That's perhaps oversimplifying the process a bit, but Arrowhead Studios CEO and creative director Johan Pilestedt says it's all about having a fun idea and iterating on it until it makes sense in the game.

is a game with plenty of strategic possibilities, but there's one key aspect of tactics that has been misrepresented from the start. Some areas where the game can be confusing have to do with bugs present at its launch, like the armor issue that has rendered heavy armor significantly less useful than intended. On the other end, however, some information can be deliberately withheld with the intention of making the game easier to get into rather than harder.

Though some of the weapons in may be considered trash, they may not be as bad as they seem at face value. As the game has increased its player base, the weapons available to Helldivers have been placed into a community hierarchy. Though some guns may be marginally better than others, every weapon has its strengths and is viable for any mission. This flexibility, which transfers to most aspects of, has helped propel the game to success along with its chaotically fun gameplay.
As players fight tooth and nail to reclaim planets overrun by Terminids and Automatons, developer Arrowhead reveals that the intergalactic war is managed by only a single person. While the core loop involves running around alien planets and gunning down various enemies, there's a much larger scale meta-game at play that sees the community fighting to take control of several endangered planets. Given that opposing factions seemingly respond to player-led pushes, many assumed it was simply an automatic difficulty setting to make the experience more challenging.
