2024 has already had a couple of surprise hits on the video game front. Despite it being labeled Pokemon with guns no one was expecting 25 million people to play Palworld, and since then we've all shifted our focus to fighting for managed democracy. Helldivers 2 proved so unexpectedly popular during its first couple of weeks that its servers struggled under the pressure. Arrowhead and PlayStation continue to play catch-up with that popularity, adding more servers and giving those of us hellbent on saving Super Earth something to wear while we do it.
All of PlayStation's tentpole franchises naturally have official store pages where fans can buy merch attached to those games, and now Helldivers 2 has joined them. The sequel's store page is now live and even though there are only four items on it, it's enough to make sure everyone knows you're doing your part no matter where you are.
The four items included in PlayStation's official Helldivers 2 merch collection are a hoodie, a t-shirt, a cap, and a mug. I'm not a big hot drink guy, but the mug might be the pick of the collection. "How 'bout a nice cup of liber-tea?" printed on the side, one of the many things your Helldiver will yell moments before they're covered in acid spray by a Terminid or blown to bits by an Automaton.
Helldivers 2's Orbital Strike t-shirt has the input command you need to activate the stratagem printed on the front, and something you might shout as you throw it dangerously close to your teammates printed on the back.
The t-shirt has another Helldivers quote printed on the back - "How'd you like the taste of freedom?" - with the button combo for an orbital precision strike on the front. Hopefully that doesn't mean someone has called one in to land exactly where you're standing when wearing it, although if that were to happen it would be the most accurate way to experience the game in real life. The hoodie and the cap don't have quotes on them, just the same yellow Helldivers 2 logo on the front of both.
Helldivers who want to wear official merch from the game have a lot of options. Not only the items available through the PlayStation Store, but also an official collab between the game and Insert Coin. Back on Super Earth, players have been experiencing flying bugs for the first time despite Arrowhead's insistence they don't exist, and turns out the UK doesn't exist in the Helldivers universe, potentially wiped off the face of Super Earth at some point during the two wars it's got going on.
