Hades 2's final boss battle has an unexpected easter egg that stops you from pausing the game, with an incantation even becoming available later that stops a certain big bad from messing with you.
One of the things that makes Supergiant stand out as a developer is how much attention to detail it hides in every nook and cranny of its games. Whether it's the narrator's reactions to what the player does in Bastion or how the different Greek gods respond to Zagreus in Hades, Supergiant's titles always have a ton of secrets to uncover, with some even taking years to be found.
As many of you are no-doubt experiencing for yourself now that Hades 2 is out in Early Access, Melinoe's adventures continue that trend, with lots of smaller details and interactions for players to find for themselves. As great as it is being able to bathe with your companions and turn Frinos into a warrior, the best is one that can only be found in the game's final boss battle.
Minor spoilers for an easter egg within Hades 2's final boss battle below.
Once you've finally figured out how to get past Cerberus without losing all of your Death Defiances, you'll find yourself in the final area of Hades 2's underworld run - Tartarus. This area will no doubt be familiar to anyone who played the first Hades, but it's very different now that it's been taken over by Chronos, the Titan of Time.
Melinoe's Underworld run always ends with a climatic battle against Chronos, who is one of the game's most difficult bosses as of the time of writing. His battle is a tough one that's sure to make your hands cramp at one point or another, so it's likely you're going to want to pause at some point to regain your focus.
Well, good luck with that one. As you can see in the video above from YouTuber Faz Faz, pausing during the final boss battle of Hades 2's Underworld run will cause Chronos, the Titan of Time, to laugh in your face and instantly unpause the game, something he'll keep doing no matter how many times you try.
The little monologue that Chronos has when he unpauses your game at least counts as a little break, right?
Although it's a very fun little joke for Hades 2 and a great easter egg, Faz Faz's video shows that there is actually a way to stop Chronos from pausing your game. If you unlock the "Power To Pause And Reflect" incantation after fighting Chronos, you'll be able to stop him from unpausing your game, which leads to some funny interactions.
One such interaction even has Chronos acknowledging that the game is probably being paused to give the player a bathroom break. Although that probably doesn't make up for how many runs are going to be ruined by Chronos' little joke in the first place, it's definitely one of the best
Hades 2 early access players can poke around to "find clues" about the roguelike sequel's coming updates.
As many an indie-game developer has already attested – Hades II’s stealth launch into Early Access caught a lot of people off-guard. But then why not start as you mean to go on? After all, surprise is one of the most important ingredients of a Roguelike. And when you’re making a sequel, springing such shocks becomes that bit harder.
Since Hades II launched in Early Access just over a week ago, developer Supergiant Games has been collecting feedback from players. Now, some of that feedback has been put to use in the game's first patch, and there are still more adjustments on their way.
Supergiant Games has shared details about Hades 2’s first patch following its Early Access release last week.
Greek god pulverizing simulator Hades 2 is getting its first patch "later this month", say the developers. Two things are on their to-tweak list. First, something might change about the way resource gathering tools are used (the pickaxe you use to mine silver during a run, for example). Second, and perhaps more significant, is an upcoming change to the way Melinoë's dash and sprint work. We don't know exactly what that change is but, according to Supergiant, it has something to do with your witchy batterer's "distinct style".
The Rogue Prince of Persia will launch in Early Access for PC via Steam on May 27, publisher Ubisoft and developer Evil Empire announced.
Hades 2 features a range of incantations and recipes for Melinoe to use, including an extremely helpful one that lets you craft your own Nectar to gift to characters.
Bosses are the main obstacles preventing you from reaching new areas in , but the Infernal Cerberus might be one of the toughest of these enemies to beat before reaching Chronos. When you try to exit the Mourning Fields, your run will be tested against this enraged Underworld guardian. The three-headed beast wields fire across a large arena to prevent Melinoë from getting to the Titan of Time.
Scylla and the Sirens is the second boss fight in , which caps off the Oceanus zone. The rockstar sirens aren’t quite as mechanically taxing as the previous boss encounter in Erebus, but this fight always has a lot going on. If players enter without prior knowledge, Melinoe can quickly get overwhelmed.
Hades 2 Early Access has reached over 100,000 concurrent players 24 hours after launch, beating Hades' all-time peak player count on Steam.
Hades 2 eventually lets you summon animal familiars who can help you in battle, which lets you turn your froggy best friend into a powerful ally in battle.
Less than 24 hours after launching on Steam, the early access version of Hades 2 has already doubled the all-time peak concurrent player account set by the original Hades. While Supergiant Games certainly found success with its earlier titles like Bastion, Pyre, and Transistor, the studio really took off after it released the roguelike action title, Hades. Although Hades was originally an Epic Games store exclusive, it eventually launched on Steam a year later in 2019 through Early access, releasing Version 1.0 on September 17, before eventually launching across most other platforms like the Switch, PlayStation, and Xbox consoles.
