Epic is raising the price of V-Bucks in Fortnite for the second time this year, with the price changes now hitting Denmark, Japan, Sweden, and the United States on October 27.
Earlier this year, Epic announced that it was going to be adjusting the price of V-Bucks, Fortnite's in-game currency, in the UK, Canada, and Mexico, due to "economic factors like inflation and currency fluctuations". That change, which went into effect on July 17, raised the prices of V-Bucks in the UK and Canada, but actually ended up lowering them a little in Mexico.

Well, if you were lucky enough to avoid the V-Buck price hike and were wondering when the other shoe was going to drop, we now have an answer. Over on the official Fortnite website, Epic shared a news post that reveals that price changes are coming to the Czech Republic, Denmark, Eurozone countries, Hungary, Japan, Norway, Poland, Romania, Sweden, Turkey, and the United States. These changes will come into effect on October 27.
Just like it said when it changed the prices in the UK, Canada, and Mexico, Epic blamed the price rise on "economic factors such as inflation and currency fluctuations". In fact, the Epic blog post even notes that the changes, "follow similar pricing alignments recently completed in the United Kingdom, Canada, and Mexico", referencing the price changes that were announced just a few months ago.
As for how the price adjustment is actually going to affect these parts of the world, it looks like the cost of V-Bucks and other packs has pretty much seen an increase everywhere. In the US, a 1,000 V-Bucks bundle will now cost $8.99 instead of $7.99, indicating a price rise of around $1 per 1,000 V-Bucks, which is similar to what happened in the UK. Meanwhile, 2,800 V-Bucks will now cost $22.99 instead of $19.99, 5,000 will go for $36.99 from $31.99, and the almighty 13,500 bundle will now be priced at $86.99 instead of $79.99.
Outside of V-Bucks, several packs were confirmed to be getting their price changed, including the Extinction Code Pack, the Untask'd Courier, and any Gifted Battle Passes. Epic also confirmed that The Final Reckoning Pack, Skull Squad Pack, Graveyard Drift Quest Pack, Saint Academy Quest Pack, and Transformers Pack will all see price adjustments in the future too.
Although it's a shame to see prices rise across the board, Epic did note that Fortnite Crew subscription prices won't be impacted by the adjustments, which seems like one reason to stick to the subscription service.

After laying off almost 900 employees, Epic Games has announced an expansion to the Fortnite V-Buck «pricing alignment», citing vague financial factors like «inflation and currency fluctuations». The price of Fortnite's premium currency is set to rise in various international markets, including the world's largest.
Fortnite is to increase the price of its in-game currency V-Bucks in a number of countries, including the US and across Europe. While publisher Epic Games attributed the decision to economic factors - citing previous “pricing alignment” in countries including the UK over the summer - the move will follow hundreds of job losses at the company, partially as the result of lower than expected revenue for their immensely popular battle royale shooter.

Epic has revealed that they are raising the prices for Fortnite’s V-Bucks.
Over the past few years, Epic Games has been one of the biggest success stories in the industry. The massive popularity of Fortnite changed the entire gaming landscape, establishing the blueprint for a successful “live service” title. The profitability of Fortnite allowed Epic to do things like launch the Epic Games Store with better profit sharing for publishers, push a lot of cutting-edge new technology with Unreal Engine 5, and more. Unfortunately, it seems Epic’s run of unfettered success may have hit a speed bump.
