Earlier this month, dataminers that managed to get their hands on Mortal Kombat 1 during the early access period seemed to uncover proof of future DLC characters that are going to be added in the near future. Intros were found for classic characters such as Cassie Cage, Jade, and Noob Saibot, but things got a little bit interesting after an intro for classic slasher villain Ghostface was discovered, as well as references to the character in dialogue alongside mentions of a cloak and mask.
Ghostface's inclusion in Mortal Kombat 1 has been rumored for a little while now thanks to this datamine, but we got our first official tease earlier today, courtesy of series creator Ed Boon. While he doesn't refer to Ghostface specifically, the character is included in an image that Boon tweeted out which features several classic horror and slasher villains.

You can see the tweet embedded down below, which includes the likes of Leatherface, Freddy Krueger, Jason, Mike Myers, Pinhead, Chucky, Jigsaw, and Ghostface. You'll notice that Leatherface, Freddy, and Jason all have ticks next to their faces, which almost definitely signifies that these characters have appeared in previous games, those being Mortal Kombat X and Mortal Kombat 9.
The rest have question marks next to their faces, which is obviously Boon's very unsubtle way of teasing that one of these characters will be coming to Mortal Kombat 1. Given that Chucky and Jigsaw are about two foot tall, we can safely cross those off the list, leaving Mike Myers, Pinhead, and Ghostface as the remaining candidates. That would be a tricky trio to pick from, but previous Ghostface leaks pretty much make this confirmation that they're going to be added at some point. All we need to know now is when.
We'll more than likely have to wait for the first batch of DLC characters to drop first though, which contains Omni-Man, Peacemaker, Homelander, Takeda, Quan-Chi, and Ermac. Mortal Kombat fans are an impatient lot though, and one dedicated modder has already managed to put together a showcase of what Ermac might actually look like when he's finally added. Granted, a lot of his move set has been lifted from the likes of Noob Saibot and Shang Tsung, but it's a neat little proof of concept anyhow.
As for other potential DLC characters we may be getting in the future, dataminers recently found evidence of a character called Floyd, which is the name of the pink ninja character that Ed Boon has had the desire to make for quite a while now.
