Reed is a Federal Intelligence Agency officer, and Songbird is a Netrunner who serves as President Myers' aide. When the President's helicopter takes a dive in Dogtown, and the President herself is trapped, both of these characters call on the mercenary V for help. However, they have a history, and Reed is convinced that letting Songbird fly is more trouble than it's worth. Reed believes that Songbird's work behind the Blackwall, a defense measure against rogue AI, is dangerous. And he's got the President on his side.

The new DLC for adds a lot of new content to the game, most notable is the addition of an impressive and emotionally charged spy-thriller story that takes players through the Dogtown district. While the new story and NPCs are by far the most obvious things people notice about the DLC, there is much more that increases the value of the game through more subtle features and enhancements. A couple can be easily missed out on, especially if people are trying to rush through the story itself.

Each possible ending of 's DLC can affect what happens next in the base game. The DLC's plot revolves around V's eternal search for a cure to their neurovirus. At the beginning of, they learn that the New United States government might have a remedy, and they can gain access to it if they'll only play government agent. Their first assignment: NUSA President Rosalind Myers' spaceplane has crash-landed, with the wreckage straddling the two rival sides of Dogtown. V will need to rescue the President, and more importantly, find out who was responsible for the crash.

Within the world of Night City in , there are special weapons that can occasionally be extremely difficult to find but are one-of-a-kind and powerful, besides simply being fun things to collect and use. These Iconic weapons are unique and are easily distinguished by having their own names to set them apart from the rest of the weapons in the game. The new DLC adds even more of these named Iconic weapons, plus it introduces a feature that will significantly help completionists collect missing ones.

Two of these options can lead to a new outcome for V at the conclusion of as well, although the other two will simply allow the game to pick up again, as originally told prior to the release of thecontent. This thriller story is full of backstabbing and espionage, with shaky alliances that can leave players not knowing who they can trust.

Entering the new Dogtown district of 's DLC introduces V to a whole new cast of NPCs with complicated backstories that leave everyone unsure who can be trusted. The new spy-thriller narrative of the expansion is engrossing and the characters and missions that are crafted for it bring a mystery all their own with back-stabbing and espionage all around. Between the main missions for the campaign and the various side jobs that V can pick up around Dogtown, the DLC brings in a variety of personalities and backstories to explore.

A fully mechanized war robot bristling with heavy weapons, the Chimera is the first major boss players will face in. Unlike many previous bosses in the game which were often bullet sponges, facing the Chimera requires some special tactics. This includes targeting its weak points and keeping an eye out for its deadly special attacks.

When first taking a step onto the streets of Dogtown in, players will spot an airdrop containing valuable loot landing on the roof of a distant skyscraper. This cargo drop is the property of local warlord Kurt Hansen, and V can fight off his troops to claim the loot inside. However, they’ll have to reach the landing site first.
