The release of: Ultimate Edition next week will also see a new 2.1 update that will bring ”New and hotly-anticipated gameplay elements” for the great price of free, according to developer CD Projekt Red.
The Ultimate Edition, out on December 5, 2023, packages Cyberpunk 2077 and its Phantom Liberty expansion together, as well as the multitude of changes, tweaks, and fixes made since the base game’s notoriously disastrous launch in 2020.
But CD Projekt Red intends to keep on giving to fans with Quest director Paweł Sasko and producer Monika Janowska discussing the update during a Twitch live stream on December 1 at 7 PM PT / 12 PM ET / 3 PM GMT / 4 PM CET.

The game is essentially complete with the recent release of the expansion Phantom Liberty, which stars actor Idris Elba. That expansion brought a massive overhaul to the base game. CD Projekt Red is now focusing on other projects, including The Witcher 4, so Cyberpunk 2077: Ultimate Edition looks to be the big sendoff for the game after a tumultuous existence.

Cyberpunk 2077 latest patch, patch 2.1, brings path tracing and regular ray tracing improvements across the board, as highlighted by a few comparison videos shared on YouTube.
It's me, I'm back. Rock Paper Shotgun's dedicated Cyberpunk 2077 reporter. CD Projekt Red continue to pay my rent by releasing regular patches for the once-borked, now-brill open world so I can write news about them. The latest, Update 2.1, is out now and adds new races, car chases, romantic smooches, and a working metro system.
The tale of CD Projekt Red and their futuristic cyberpunk-themed video game is likely well-known to you now. But it’s worth retelling again because of the release of Cyberpunk 2077 Ultimate Edition, which is meant to be the “definitive version” of the title in every way that matters. If you don’t know, this “Ultimate Edition” brings together the main game that launched in 2020 and the expansion that was released a few months ago. Plus, all the updates that have helped improve the game over the years are included. They even made a special launch trailer bringing back Keanu Reeves and Idris Elba to narrate why you should “enjoy” Night City as you try to make your way through it.
Adam Smasher is supposed to be a near-legendary threat to Night City itself, built up through in-game and out-of-game lore. As the final boss of and a memorable character in the anime, he should have been an epic battle that players made it through by the barest of margins. Instead, he was a relative weakling and a huge letdown for players once they went toe-to-toe with him as V. After patch 2.1, however, he is much closer to the reputation that precedes him.
Cyberpunk 2077 is getting the last major update before developer CD Projekt Red moves on to the next project. Dubbed ‘Update 2.1,' the patch finally brings the long-requested metro system, the ability to hang out with romantic partners, radios, and a ton of quality-of-life changes. It drops alongside the Ultimate Edition on December 5 at 4:30pm IST in India/ 12pm CET in Europe. Bear in mind that this is a free downloadable update, so it won't be included natively in the physical disc versions releasing on the PS5 and Xbox Series S/X. That said, the 2.0 Update released in September will be included across all versions, entirely overhauling the perk system and adding a range of tech augmentations, which weren't present in the original 2020 version.
Sci-fi RPG Cyberpunk 2077 is an ambitious game with history as up-and-down as its prickly protagonist's mood. The game deflated expectations almost immediately after launch in 2020, disappointing would-be fans with its glitches and fiddly combat. Putting a bow on its comeback arc, developer CD Projekt Red recently released its Phantom Liberty expansion and update 2.0. Now, the game feels deserving of its pre-launch hype, and its unexpected new patch 2.1 happily continues this trend.
CD Projekt Red has revealed the full notes for Cyberpunk 2077's Update 2.1, the final major patch arriving December 5, which includes details on the metro system, romantic partner hangouts, new vehicles, and more.
Cyberpunk 2077 will receive its "last big update" tomorrow, December 5, 2023, as developer CD Projekt Red turns its attention towards the sequel, codenamed Orion, and the next mainline Witcher game, codenamed Polaris.
is finally making it possible to use the metro system, and there's only one little addition that could make the feature everything that it should be. The metro has been a long-requested feature for, with a heavy focus on it in promotional material, making it seem like an obvious candidate for actual inclusion in the game. Although there are plenty of ways to get around quickly, the inclusion of a usable metro helps up the believability and immersion of Night City while offering a more hands-off method of standard travel.
Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty may have been released earlier this year, but that doesn't mean developer CD Projekt Red is finished tinkering with things to make the game the best it can possibly be. One big complaint fans have had for quite a while is the difficulty of the Adam Smasher boss fight, as a lot of people think he goes down too easily for a man that's made of machinery and is one of Night City's most terrifying individuals.
When CD Projekt Red reintroduced Cyberpunk 2077 to the gaming industry at E3 2018, it did so with a trailer that opened on the image of Night City’s convoluted subway system. Now, half a decade removed from that iconic moment (not to mention three years after the game’s rocky launch), the studio is finally ready to add an honest-to-goodness metro to its game’s gritty, neon-soaked setting.
