Bloober Admits Silent Hill 2 Remake Is Its "Most Important Test"

Bloober Team has admitted in a recent shareholders report that the Silent Hill 2 remake is "its most important test", but one that it's excited and confident about.
As happy as most of us were to see the long-awaited return of Silent Hill after more than a decade of silence, fans have had their fair share of reservations about the announced projects. Both Silent Hill: The Short Message and Silent Hill: Ascension have been met with a lot of criticism and generally not received positively (especially in Ascension's case), but they aren't even the games that are raising eyebrows.
That honour goes to none other than the Silent Hill 2 remake. A lot of fans have argued that such a beloved and iconic horror game with such a specific flavour shouldn't be remade and is better off left alone. That lack of confidence wasn't helped by the fact that the developer working on the remake is Bloober Team, who has had its fair share of misses when it comes to doing darker themes in horror games.
Even if there's some skepticism regarding Bloober Team handling Silent Hill 2's remake, at least the studio itself knows how important of a game it is. As pointed out by Twitter user ResiEvilCentral (based on pl_evil's translations), Bloober Team recently released an annual report that provided some details on Silent Hill 2.
In the annual report, Bloober addressed the original game's legacy and noted that the team doesn't internally or externally hide how important of a test the remake is for them. That being said, Bloober is "excited and confident" about the final result, which does spark some hope about how the final game will turn out.
"We do not hide it internally or externally - this is the most important test of our actions. We are not only excited, but at the same time very confident about the final result."
That comment, combined with the fact that Bloober has responded to some of the criticisms surrounding the remake (such as how old James Sunderland looked in early versions of the game), indicates that the team is aware of how the remake has been perceived so far and is willing to change it for a better outcome. Now we just have to wait and see how it actually turns out.
