Elysian Acoustics is finally pushing into the mid-range with the announcement of its Pilgrim pair of in-ear monitors. While it is best known for its Diva and Annihilator earphones, $1,599 and $2,999 respectively, the Pilgrim comes to market at $399 while retaining the company’s signature detailed sound and beautiful design. It features a hybrid, triple--driver design, and is available at HiFiGo now.
While $399 is hardly cheap, it’s exciting to see Elysian Acoustics offer a product at this price point. It’s ability to tune and deliver a great sounding, high-performing pair of in-ear monitors is well-established, but many people couldn’t listen for themselves to experience this first-hand. Compared to its other models, it’s much more accessible to the average listener.
The Pilgrim uses a three-driver hybrid design. For the bass, it leverages a 9.2mm liquid silicone rubber dynamic driver that’s able to dive as low as 10 Hz. It’s supported by two custom Sonion balanced armatures for smooth mids and sparkling treble. The drivers are hand-matched for consistency, a facet which Elysian says was important throughout the design process.
The shell design is also striking. It avoids the usual glittery resin we’ve seen so much of lately and instead uses machined metal housing with an ripple pattern on the face. Strategically placed vents enhance this effect, the voids lending it depth while also supporting their comfort.
We’ll be sharing our thoughts in a full review soon, but so far, we’ve found them to be bright, but low reaching, and exceptionally detailed. More to come soon.

Though is filled with plenty of romanceable villagers and NPCs to befriend, there are certain underrated NPCs players have always had a soft spot for. There’s the Hat Mouse, selling hats out of the decrepit building to the south of Cindersnap Forest; Krobus, who runs a shop out of the town’s sewers; and the Dwarf, who hides in the mines. These characters don’t often interact with the townspeople, instead making their relationship with the character a special one – though it seems the changes in the 1.6 update has made one of those characters a bit more sociable.

I\O Audio is a new brand aiming to launch with a bang. Its first product, the I\O Audio Volare is certainly impressive. At $599, it features a tribrid design consisting of one dynamic driver, four balanced armatures, and four electrostatic drivers. This type of configuration is found in some of the highest-end IEMs on the market and usually starts north of $700 and extends into the multiple thousands. Certainly Golden Ears territory, it still manages to feel like a good value in the category it’s competing in. If you’re looking for a grat balance of punchy bass and sparkly treble, this is a great set to consider.
