The original 9th Dawn is the first game ever made by Valorware, kickstarting the popular series. Though it can still be played, it’s not very user friendly due to its age. Tom Au, creator of the original and founder of Valorware, has been wanting to remake his first game for a while. He stated that the state of the first game “didn’t really capture my original vision” and is excited to present its remake. 9th Dawn Remake is a full reimagining of the original, complete with quests, loot and monster pets. Also, the game has practically been rebuilt from the ground up, offering players over 200 hours of excitement. Set to release sometime this year on Steam, the game has several new features players can look forward to.
9th Dawn Remake now has 2.5D graphics, along with cleaner sprites and improved animation. Adding to this, a first-person mode is now available, which looks somewhat similar to playing in Minecraft. Fans of the original game will appreciate the extra immersion. Some major changes include a completely rewritten story, and a two player local co-op. Explore the massive open world of Montelorne with over 45 brand-new dungeons plus a multitude of side quests. The best part is that they don’t have to travel alone. Hatch interesting creatures from eggs and raise them to be loyal companions on the journey for loot and weapons. Beyond the main story and the side quests, there are also two new mini games.
First, there’s Fishing Survivors, a bullet-haven fishing game. Defeating multiple fish directly affects how much fish players get. Additionally, there are several missions in the mini game that can be unlocked as soon as players explore specific places. Second is Deck Rock, a deck building card game. Inspired for the most part by Slay the Spire and Roguebook, players control medieval paper people and work on completing dungeons while collecting all the cards. Plus, these cards can also be levelled up to become stronger.
Also, in celebration of 9th Dawn Remake, Valorware is offering a 50% discount on their most popular game, 9th Dawn III: Shadow of Erthil. The discount is available not only on Steam, but also includes Xbox, Switch, Android, and iOS. Be on the lookout for a review from Hardcore Droid!
