After rumors of the same, Microsoft has confirmed that the next Xbox Games Showcase will occur on June 9th at 10 AM PT/1 PM ET/6 PM BST. It will be the first to feature titles from Activision, Blizzard Entertainment and Bethesda alongside Xbox Game Studios and third-party partners.
Following the showcase is a mysterious [REDACTED] Direct – a deep dive into the “next installment of a beloved franchise.” Based on rumors over the past six months, it’s likely the next title in the Call of Duty Black Ops series. Developed by Treyarch and codenamed “Cerberus” (which lines up with the logo), it’s reportedly based on the Gulf War and features an open-world campaign.
The showcase will also reportedly see Microsoft announcing Gears 6, which Liam McIntyre (who plays JD Fenix) recently teased. The sequel has also seen its share of rumors, from delivering a potential “This is what next-gen is about” moment to offering an even more open-ended world than its predecessor.
