Update 2: Here we are then, the patch notes for Baldur's Gate 3 Update 5. Fair warning: they're bloody massive. Update 5 is available to download now on PS5, and you can read broader summaries of the patch in our original article and first update, found below the patch notes.
Please be aware that these notes may include potential spoilers.
And many, many more fixes, improvements, tweaks, and labours of love!
Update: The Baldur's Gate 3 Update 5 patch notes are here, and this really is a monster. The headline acts include a brand new epilogue in which players can catch up with their party members six months after the events of the main game. Larian says this epilogue section features «some of the most complex writing in the game so far,» due to how reactive it all is to the actions that you've taken throughout the rest of the adventure. Wow!
Two new difficulty modes are also being added: Honour and Custom. Honour provides an even harder challenge both in and out of combat, revamping boss enemies with additional abilities. What's more, you won't be allowed to reload saves in this mode, meaning that every dice roll counts. Sounds rough.
Meanwhile, Custom will offer a range of difficulty settings that players can tweak to their liking. You can take a peek at said settings in the screenshot below:
We're far from finished, though. Another key improvement is the addition of a unified inventory screen that lets you manage everyone's items from one menu — even characters who aren't in your current party. Oh, and technical performance is being bolstered as well.
As mentioned below in our original article, you may need to re-download all of Baldur's Gate 3 in order to install this update. The patch itself weighs in at around 30GB, but you'll need a full 130GB, or thereabouts, to install it.
Update 5 is releasing later today. We'll update this article when it's available, and post the full patch notes when they drop.
Original Story: We're still waiting on the full patch notes for Baldur's Gate 3 Update 5 (they're expected to drop at some point today), but Larian Studios has at least let players know that it's going to be big in terms of file size. The developer says that Update 5 is «roughly 30GB» — hefty by itself — but the thing is, you'll need around 130GB of free storage space to actually install it.
Presumably, this is because the patch will be replacing a lot of the game's existing data, and so the full install size must be made available. As such, you might be better off simply deleting Baldur's Gate 3 from your PS5 and then re-download it, Update 5 and all. A bit of a hassle — especially if you're working with slower internet speeds — but that's the price of modern gaming, we suppose.
We'll add the patch
