Silence! Apollo Justice's Legal Journey Begins Anew in Ace Attorney Trilogy Promo 2 | Push Square

Marvel's Spider-Man 2 is one of the biggest games of the year, and we were big fans, even if it didn't stray enough from the established Insomniac formula for our taste. Still, it seems we weren't the only ones surprised to find that, despite being nominated in seven separate categories, Sony's latest PlayStation exclusive didn't bag a single statue at The Game Awards.

We've had no official word on a PS5 Pro, but that hasn't stopped rumours about a souped-up model from circulating. Rumblings about a half-step upgrade, much like what happened with PS4 and PS4 Pro, have been doing the rounds for a while now, though nothing substantial has emerged yet. Now, though, new word from Insider Gaming's Tom Henderson suggests we might be hearing more about the machine pretty soon — whether Sony likes it or not.

Remedy Entertainment's Alan Wake 2 received widespread acclaim from fans and critics when it launched on 27th October, continuing the tale of the tortured, titular writer. The sequel to the cult-classic Alan Wake, buoyed by more than a decade of hype and developed by a Remedy with the momentum of a well-received Control behind it, you'd expect the game to sell like gangbusters, wouldn't you?

Fortnite's Festival is already set to corner the rhythm market by install base alone, introducing a Rock Band-like experience into Epic's ongoing everything game. In addition to LEGO Fortnite and Rocket Racing, it's clear that Epic's plans for total digital domination are close to coming to fruition.

As if anyone needed another reason to play Baldur's Gate 3 again, the recently released Honour Mode provides as good an incentive as any, especially for masochists. Veterans of Tactition, formerly the most difficult in the game, are finding Honour Mode — where a story-focused run will last regular players around 50 hours — to be a different beast entirely.

Embracer Group has made good on its promise, deciding the fate of UK-based TimeSplitters developer Free Radical Design after a consultation process that concluded on 11th December. Or at least we have to assume so, the embattled company hasn't made an announcement or anything; Free Radical's website is simply gone, with a message left behind that reads: «404 Company Not Found [sad smiley face]»

You won’t find Rock Band Unplugged at the top of many Best PSP Games lists, but the Harmonix spin-off – released during the peak of plastic peripheral popularity – was one of the finest games you could find on Sony’s handheld during its pre-PS Vita renaissance circa-2009. A stripped-back version of the main console games, this portable reimagining saw you switching between instruments, completing “phrases” by rhythmically tapping buttons in time to the music.

The Ace Attorney series is a relatively new one for us on Planet PlayStation (can we bring that back?), with the original three games launching on PS4 in 2019 — long after they first arrived on western shores. We're now fully acquainted with the Phoenix Wright trilogy, but what happened next? While there have been a fair few spin-offs and side stories, a second trio of main titles introduced new characters and plot lines. Apollo Justice: Ace Attorney Trilogy brings those to PS4 in another collection, and after going hands on, it seems we're in for more of the same batty, and brilliant, legal drama nonsense.

Having officially entered our Fortnite Festival era, we're quite excited to see that the surreal pseudo-metaverse Epic has cooked up and is getting instrument controller support as soon as next month.

After the remastered releases of the original Phoenix Wright Trilogy and the Great Ace Attorney Chronicles, it was only a matter of time until the other games in the series got a similar treatment. It has been a wait, but the games featuring my favourite attorney with is almost here – Apollo Justice: Ace Attorney Trilogy. So, warm up those Chords of Steel, find yourself an adorable magician for an assistant and step into the courtroom to face off with a series of relentless prosecutors.
