Baldur’s Gate 3’s Upcoming Patch Fixes Over 1000 Bugs & Adds Most Requested Features

If you are wondering why Baldur’s Gate 3’s companions were extremely… forward, it turns out it was the result of a bug.

Baldur’s Gate 3 developer Larian has issued an official ‘Looking to the Future’ blog post that outlines a raft of changes coming to the game with the imminent Patch 2, including an update to the ending for everyone’s favourite Tiefling Barbarian.

Larian Studios, the developer behind the hit RPG Baldur's Gate 3, has revealed its plans for the game's second major post-launch Patch while addressing player criticisms surrounding bugs and cut content. 

Baldur's Gate 3 developer Larian Studios has teased the release of two highly requested features: the ability to kick co-op party members when you want to go forward solo, and the ability to change your appearance after you make a character.

Don't worry too much if the first major patch for Baldur's Gate 3 didn't fix whatever particular problem ails you, because Larian Studios said today that the next big update is just about ready to go.

After four hotfixes, the first fully-fledged Baldur's Gate 3 patch is here and, unsurprinslgy, it's a big one. The Baldur's Gate 3 update aims to address the fair number of problems that have unfortunately plagued the RPG game since release, with Larian Studios claiming it's squashing more than 1000 bugs.

There’s been plenty of talk about Baldur’s Gate 3 since its launch earlier in the month. The game has been in the works for years and on Steam Early Access for a long time to help refine things, and now that it’s out, people are enjoying the fruits of everyone’s labors. That includes the work of Larian Studios, who went all in to deliver a D&D-style experience while also making it great for casual video gamers to jump in and play. Even with the game’s launch, Larian has been working hard on refining the game even more, which led to the title’s first significant patch being dropped today.

Consistent with the spirit of the game, Baldur’s Gate 3’s first “major” patch notes are too large to even fit into Steam’s usual text character limit. Developer Larian instead published a portion of the patch details on a Steam blog and the rest on their forums, which were briefly down - probably either due to an online traffic jam or just, again, the patch’s sheer size. Regardless, we have well over three thousand words worth of details on today’s patch, which addresses around one thousand bugs and graces us with “Short King Summer” before it’s too late. But beware: there are some spoilers in the patch notes.

The Xbox fans of the world won’t have to wait much longer to play Baldur’s Gate 3, as Larian Studios has confirmed that the game will launch on Xbox Series X/S in 2023. This announcement follows uncertainty about the game’s future on Xbox platforms, even though it’s already on PC and will be coming to PS5 soon.
