Developer Larian Studios has revealed the short-term update roadmap for the monstrous RPG Baldur's Gate 3 on PC. This is relevant for the PlayStation faithful as the plan is for parity between the two platforms at launch and beyond.
Larian Boss Swenn Vincke provided an update on X and, in keeping with the game's Early Access philosophy, is taking suggestions personally. He even mentioned that «some requests» will be incorporated into Patch 2, which has us hopeful for the much-wished-for ability to change our character's appearance, but we'll just have to wait and see.
That was yesterday, and a fair bit happened since, Larian released Hotfix 4 before swiftly having to roll it back due to a «rare compiler issue», leaving players who had updated their save in an awkward position, unable to continue.
The studio fell on its sword and apologised for the inconvenience, praising its Canadian and Malaysian teams for swiftly identifying the issue, which has since been resolved, and Hotflix 4 redeployed. This has prompted an overhaul of how patches will be handled going forward, resulting in a better product when it launches on PS5 on 6th September.

Our own experience (so far) has been remarkably bug-free, but reports of issues emerging in the tail end have cropped up. Still, Larian's near-fanatical dedication to improving this game and helping its players is admirable, in some cases, going so far as to individually fix Redditors' save files so they can keep playing.

Crossplay? That would be a great update.
@Jaz007 Yes, I agree…. Because I was too foolish to research if there was crossplay before I decided to preorder the game to play with PC-based friends
@somnambulance they've announced they're working on cross play. Hopefully be out for PS5 launch but not guaranteed.
@Zanao Where did they announce this? I haven't seen this when I've looked.
Cross play?! This game has multiplayer? What doesn't it do!?
@Zanao I really hope so. I immediately went from being excited to feeling stupid shortly after my preorder. My friends were excited about me saying, “Ah, I’m broke right now, but alright! Finally a multiplayer game I’ll dip into! Haven’t gotten the band back together since Warzone felt new.” Totally didn’t even think crossplay might be an issue. Goes to show how times have changed over the last five years that I

Axolotls were already some of nature's deadliest predators, but when armed with the most popular gun in the world, they become paedomorphic salamanders truly worth fearing. Baldur's Gate 3 is a reactive game, but not just in terms of narrative and choice. Some of its most exciting gameplay aspects come from developer Larian Studio's previous outing, Divinity: Original Sin 2, such as the explosive elemental reaction system, which might come as a surprise to more casual observers.

Overwatch 2 was released on PS5 and PS4 back in October of 2022, and the shift to free-to-play drew massive crowds initially, but deeper issues were quickly discovered.
