Arrowhead is staffing up after Helldivers 2 success to ‘beef up’ its content plans

Moon Studios – the developer behind beloved Metroidvania games Ori and the Blind Forest and Will of the Wisps – is gearing up to launch its next game, action-RPG No Rest for the Wicked, into early access. Ahead of that, its director has clarified that there'll be no microtransactions included in the upcoming title at all, and definitely no expensive skins to buy for horses.

A datamine of seemingly confirms that developer Arrowhead is already planning on giving players some new tools to help defend Super Earth. Now that the game's serves have finally stabilized after a massive surge in popularity, dedicated fans are looking to the future, hoping to catch a glimpse of what could be added to the experience in future updates. Fortunately, based on the unearthed information, there's plenty to be excited about.

Some games take weeks to find an audience. Some take months. And then there's Helldivers 2, which has become an instant hit, surpassing more than 1 million copies sold in its first three days of launch. So, what's next?

Arrowhead has teased “exciting” plans for Helldivers 2 after seemingly resolving the game’s server issues.

It took just over two weeks and some loss of sleep, but Helldivers 2, the smash hit co-op shooter from PlayStation and Sweden’s Arrowhead Game Studio, now actually works. Which is to say, the game cruised through peak play hours over its third weekend with minimal login issues, and with the majority of players able to get online and work together to save managed democracy, eliminating one bug (or robot) at a time.

With Helldivers 2's severs holding firm, developer Arrowhead Game Studios is ready to return to its "original plan" for the shooter. 

With (currently) two distinct factions spanning several planets at a time, has plenty of enemies to fight, some of which require specialized strategies or weapons, and all of which can pose a deadly threat if taken too lightly. Among the game's roster of enemies, however, a select few particularly stand out for being difficult to deal with and, especially on higher difficulties, requiring good squad coordination and well-put-together loadouts.

Helldivers 2 is the new must-play shooter in town, and it turns out the engine it was built on is already extinct. 

Ship Modules in are special modifications you can unlock to enhance your best Stratagems for upcoming missions. These passive changes can alter anything from Stratagem cooldowns to an explosion's radius, making them a diverse change to your equipment. With many available on your Destroyer, it may be difficult to choose which ones to have activated before your deployment to various worlds.

Tanks are one of the strongest enemy types belonging to the Automaton faction in due to their heavy armor and deadly firepower that make them hard to beat. These vehicles are almost impossible to destroy without heavy weaponry of some kind. You may have to employ certain Stratagems to have a hope of defeating these machines in the name of true liberty.

PlayStation 5 and Steam hit Helldivers 2 was built on an engine that was discontinued after work on the game began.
