Bethesda's latest video game release, , is an expansive science fiction RPG set in the year 2330. Although it features interesting storytelling, an outstanding soundtrack, as well as many other impressive gameplay mechanics, undoubtedly the most impressive (and occasionally most boring) feature of the game is the universe-sized map featuring over 1,000 unique planets spread across 100 star systems. Each planet has distinctive resources, weather, climates, flora, and fauna, making for a truly enormous experience.
Although Bethesda has developed a reputation for creating enormous and immersive environments in its video games, nothing the studio has produced before comes close to the enormity of 's map. Although a point of criticism has been 's occasionally barren atmosphere, Bethesda's executive producer Todd Howard and managing director Ashley Cheng indicated in an interview that it was largely an intentional choice, as to simulate the sensation of the player's smallness. Irrespective of intention, while not all 1,000 planets are full of interesting activities, scenarios, and environments, a select few highly unique planets more than makeup for the shortcomings of the rest.

Somewhat reminiscent of the irradiated terrain of , another Bethesda title, Kreet is located in the Narion System. Though Kreet is a moon encountered early during a play-through, it is one of the most novel locations in. Kreet is home to three different biomes (Volcanic, Mountains, and Frozen Volcanic), extensive flora and fauna, and an abundance of valuable resources including silver, alkanes, and water. Furthermore, the moon of Kreet has a research lab where a player can make a fairly significant amount of money early in the game.
In the universe of, Mars, Earth's celestial neighbor, is the planet with the largest population of humans. This alone makes it rather unique and worth visiting; however, it is the abundant resources and missions that make Mars a weird and wonderful intergalactic location. Mars is one of the best planets to obtain chlorine, chlorosilanes, and water. Furthermore, intrepid explorers may be able to find the Heart of Mars, a unique resource that can be sold for 20,000 credits.
Located in the Olympus Star System, Nesoi is an excellent planet to visit early in a play-through to collect useful resources and to explore. Although Nesoi is unique and well worth surveying, there are two notable locations that should not be skipped: The Almagest and the Dream Home. Moreover, the planet of Nesoi is a good location for an outpost — the air is neither toxic nor irradiated, plus the abundance of valuable and reasonably rare resources is near bountiful.
