Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom fans are utilizing their creative talents to recreate one of the most iconic creatures to appear in the game: the Light Dragon. Breath of the Wild features three dragons, but the Light Dragon is notably absent, though it serves a huge purpose in the sequel.
Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom is one of the rare direct sequels in the series of games, and with it came a bevy of new characters that hadn't been seen before. The existence of Zonai devices and experiencing Hyrule across different eras has helped to expand the lore behind the franchise, and the mysterious Light Dragon is just one of the important elements of the story.
Reddit users kokiritheory and StarDragon85 both found inspiration in the Light Dragon, and chose to recreate it using the materials and skills available to them. Kokiritheory created a Light Dragon figure made of polymer clay, and went so far as to share a video showcasing how they brought the figure to life. Kokiritheoryexplains that they created the figure because they had wanted to decorate with a figure of the Light Dragon, but ulimately wasn't able to find one for sale, so they took to creating it themselves. In all, they used foil, Sculpey clay, armature wire, and paints.
Meanwhile, Reddit user StarDragon85 also created their own Light Dragon sculpture, but with a combination of clay and felting. Felt makes up the majority of the dragon's body and face, and they used air dry clay to create the eyes, claws, and spikes. The project took roughly three weeks for the artist to complete. While the final results both did an excellent job of recreating the Light Dragon, they're also unique, with StarDragon85's creation having a softer, fuzzier appearance, due to its felting.
Fans of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom have been extremely receptive to both of these sculptures, not only sharing their appreciation for the recreations, but also for the scenes surrounding the Light Dragon in the game. Given that Zelda: Breath of the Wild featured several dragons that would occasionally be seen flying through the air, some players might not have initially thought anything of the Light Dragon when it first appeared in the sequel. While the Zelda: Breath of the Wild dragons Dinraal, Farosh, and Naydra still roam in the sequel, players will ultimately find a much more important prize than scales and claws with the Light Dragon. By fully exploring the game's story, players can discover just how important the Light Dragon is and how its sacrifice is integral to defeating Ganon.
