Week’s done. Friday’s here. Time to chill, to rest, to reset and probably play some video games through the weekend, but What We Played is about what has gone before, not what’s coming up. I’ve been playing New Cycle, a bleak post-apocalyptic city builder, and I’ll have some thoughts on it next week. Besides that, I’ve been continuing my playthrough of TheWitcher 3 on Steam Deck, VR’ed my way further into Asgard’s Wrath 2, threw some punches in a spot of Street Fighter 6, and got in a hefty dose of Monster Hunter Rise that I’ve seen fit to restart from the beginning.
Steve has also played some of those new-fangled video games, and it’s a diverse bunch as always. He said, “After completing The Forest with my online gang we have moved on to Strange Brigade which is silly fun. Lots of Tally-Hos and inappropriate colonial contexts but nice to play a game that doesn’t take itself too seriously. I also finished RoboCop: Rogue City and really enjoyed my time with it. It’s unashamedly a relic of a previous generation but then in many ways so am I! Daily achievements have been via the chilled Spirit of the North and finally, I’m playing through the games of VHS aesthetic horror devs The Puppet Combo for a conference paper this weekend on Horror and Analogue Technology.”
While he’s been playing The Cub for review, Aran has also jumped back into Starfield. He says, “I’m taking it slow and decided to be a surveyor so I’m visiting moons and planets scanning the resources and wildlife. It’s actually quite therapeutic, and I’ve found little stories and side missions as a result. For example, while scanning Luna I ran into a bounty hunter who hired me to help clear out some pirates in an old outpost.”
Tuffcub has invested his time in a trifecta, with Destiny 2, Evil West, and ‘Chorvs’, which I’m fairly certain is supposed to be Chorus but has the silliest font I’ve ever seen. Meanwhile, Nick P is currently working through Lies of P “which I’m still enjoying”, as well as starting a playthrough of Silent Hill 4 for reasons known only to himself.
Gamoc has played Midnight Suns, Cyberpunk 2077 Phantom Liberty, drawn Evil West from this month’s PS Plus line up, which has left him confused about the game’s vampires. On the other side of the pond, Miguel finished his long and incredible journey with Alan Wake 2, and he got a big Game Boy Advance nostalgia hit by playing some of his favourite GBA game ever: Summon Knight Swordcraft Story.
It was all popping off for Ade who played Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown. He tells us it’s an absolutely awesome game, and you can check out his full review if you want to know more.
And finally, Tef has also enjoyed the opening hours of Prince of Persia to handle our video review, and has been
