Is there any appetite for a deep, sci-fi roleplaying experience amongst the PlayStation faithful? Warhammer 40,000: Rogue Trader is (shockingly) the first isometric CRPG set in Game's Workshop bleak universe, developed by Owlcat Games, creators of the excellent Pathfinder: Wrath of the Righteous. It finally has a release date: prepare for a grimdark future in which there is only war from 7th December on PS5.
Whereas Larian Studios adapted the latest version of the tabletop D&D ruleset for Baldur's Gate 3, Owlcat Games took a different evolutionary route, utilising Pathfinder's (to our mind) even more complex systems in its recent games. Stick with us here, but there's actually a Rogue Trader tabletop game as well, and that's what Owlcat has adapted for this next outing. We're still trying to comprehend a reality in which CRPGs are even being made, let alone great ones, and so this is happy news, indeed.

Khayl Adam is the second best video game journalist Australia has ever produced, and his ambitions of world domination have (thus far) been curbed by the twin siren songs of strategy games and CRPGs. He has always felt an affinity for the noble dachshund, the best kind of dog.
I’m so hyped for this especially since I didn’t think the console release was going to make this year. Pathfinder 1&2 are amazing games especially the second which imo is a masterpiece and was the best crpg until baldurs gate 3 came out.
@dark_knightmare2 Call me old-fashioned, but I'd probably still give GOAT status to Baldur's Gate 2 haha. But both Pathfinder games were great, you're right, and I can't wait for this either
Matt Alwright will be on the case with this game.
Apologies to anyone outside of the UK who doesn't get this tenuous reference.
Shut up and take my money.
Very very hyped. Loved Wrath of the Righteous and feel like Owlcat are getting better and better with each game. We need 4-6 high quality CRPG studios to make sure we have something chunky to play on the regular. We won’t hear from Larian now for likely years, who knows what will happen with the Disco team, InXile are Xbox now etc.
Enjoyed WOTR.
The controls on that game Imo were better implemented than on BG3.
BG3 fantastic game but I feel the controller controls lets it down a bit as its just clunky for me
and I can never ago into autopilot mode to use the controls without thinking every time.
I'm surprised this is coming out so soon on as multi platform release this year.
I hope Inxile can still churn out good games but I feel now under Xbox their past
