Vampire Survivors dev is "so focused" on its hit roguelike that it doesn't know what it's doing next

Vampire Survivors landed like a lightning bolt lobbed by Zeus himself. The moment it made contact, everything it touched was changed forever, and in its place, a new normal was established. Whilst not the first, Vampire Survivors is the game that popularised and thrust a whole new genre into the hands of gamers everywhere.

It hasn’t been long since poncle graced us with the game-changing local co-op update for Vampire Survivors, and yet something new is already on the horizon. Vampire Survivors’ free ‘Chilling Update’, which promises to add a new map, weapon, character, and relic to the game’s heaving list of content, has just been announced, and we’ve got all the details on what you can expect from its wintry waves.

Crystal Dynamics, the developer behind the rebooted Tomb Raider franchise, has been hit with a round of layoffs. This follows the ongoing crumbling of Embracer Group, which announced a large-scale restructuring of its assets in June, resulting in layoffs, closures and cancellations.

Acclaimed minimalist survival RPG Vampire Survivors is done with summer and is heading for frostier climes, courtesy of its next free content update, the Chilling Update, which just recieved a first trailer ahead of its arrival «soon».

Vampire Survivors is set to receive another update soon, which plans to ass an entirely new map to the game alongside several new features completely free of charge. The “chilling update” will provide players with a new weapon, relic, and playable character alongside several new enemy types to face off against. Currently, there are no details on when exactly we can expect this update to roll out; it’s just scheduled to be ‘coming soon’.

Poncle, the developers of Vampire Survivors, has revealed the Chilling Update, which is set to drop “in a few weeks” according to a trailer posted by the developer. 

Just last month, indie roguelike hit Vampire Survivors swapped to a whole new game engine in Unity. Now, with the whole game industry crying foul over Unity's half-retracted fee changes, the game's creator has a simple answer for whether he'd ever use the engine again: "lol no thank you!"

Developer Poncle has stated that it is looking into the possibility of bringing online co-op to Vampire Survivors. Speaking during an AMA on Reddit, Poncle said that it is investigating online co-op for the game, but there is no guarantee of the feature actually coming to the title.

Vampire Survivors is one of my all-time favorite games, and it isn’t just because of my completely illogical obsession with all things vampire. In fact, it’s a running joke within the community that vampires may or may not even exist in-game yet. Poncle’s game is actually incredible due to its addictive gameplay and fast-paced combat. While each stage is half an hour long, you’ll easily lose hours in-game as you forget what time even is. The indie developer recently sat down for an AMA on Reddit, answering questions and alluding to possible online multiplayer.
