V Rising is heading towards its 1.0 full launch. Stunlock Studios has an extensive new devblog announcing that the next major update will be the full release out of Early Access, currently planned for Q2 2024.
Stunlock has always been open during their very successful Early Access. One reason the first major update, which became the Secrets of Gloomrot expansion, took so long was the engine. While the experimental engine they built the game in allowed for some impressive mechanics, updating the engine wasn't possible until now. The team has announced that they have been upgrading the foundation of the game into a much more stable engine that won’t have the previous limitations to development. This is why they are announcing the road to 1.0.
So what’s next? Well, a ton of things are in the works to shape your future in Vardoran. The next major update will also add a brand new zone “into dark and icy realms” and a new frozen biome. Expect new enemies, including new bosses, including perhaps one in particular of note. Ad the devs tease:
“The final challenge…The throne of Vardoran’s top predator awaits… dare you seize it?”
With an emphasis on the final challenge, the 1.0 patch is designed around the final chapters of your vampire adventure, built upon all of the work you’ve previously put in. On top of the new locations, we can also expect cosmetic overhauls, with additional character customization that will go deep, “down to the last detail”. Previously, before character level displays, they didn't allow much customization because you had to grasp what gear someone was wearing when looking at another vampire in PvP.
The look of your vampire is not the only thing getting an upgrade, because there will be morecosmetic options for your castle. The update will allow sitting in chairs so you can enjoy some of the furniture in the castle.
Expect an overhaul to progression that may separate particular skills from V Bloods to enable more build variety and immersion. Feedback has often said combat could be repetitive. New weapons are also on the way too. They will announce more details later.
The final big 1.0 plan reveal is live events. While they’re working out the details, the goals are to make Vardoran a more vibrant place to be. “Engage in alliances or face-offs with other Vampires, collecting valuable resources and bonuses crucial for the game’s advanced stages. These living events, if all goes well, could pave the way for dynamic events bursting to life all across Vardoran!”
