Turn 10 has released a message for the Forza Motorsport community as they set out some key priorities for the recently released game, and how they will address some of the most nagging issues with the game in 2024.
In particular, the three key areas they will look at are the car progression systems, the Forza Race Regulations penalty system and AI driver behaviours.
The ‘CarPG’ progression is certainly one of the biggest and most controversial changes for the series’ fundamentals. Instead of earning cash to buy upgrades for your cars, you instead have to spend time driving them to level up in a light RPG-like progression system. This can feel more time consuming than the system from previous Forza games and rival series Gran Turismo.
The team writes, “It is clear from looking at feedback that while many of our players are enjoying the system as is, for many others it isn’t delivering the upgrade experience that they expect from Forza Motorsport. To address this, we are exploring changes to the system. Our goal with these changes is to retain what is working for those that enjoy it, while resolving the issues many of our most dedicated players have with the system.
“Addressing this feedback is a top priority for the team going into 2024, however it will take some time to properly evaluate options, make the necessary code changes, and thoroughly test those code changes.”
Personally, I quite like the CarPG progression and the flexibility and fluidity that it can offer for improving a car set up within an hour or two of getting a car. That said, after the umpteenth car you’ve earned, it’s a bit tiresome not being able to just spend earned money to slap the best parts on for a custom online race.
Beyond that they’ve noted that there is some inconsistency in the Forza Race Regulation system, which isn’t properly handling intentional ramming, being pushed off track, spinning cars and more. They are collecting data to analyse and will be trying to make FRR more accurate and reliable.
And AI will be improved to get rid of sudden braking and slowing down, lacking acceleration out of corners, and sticking too strictly to the racing line. Additionally, they need to stop AI being too aggressive through the early part of a race, which often forces a quick restart.
This will be the first of what Turn 10 promises will be quarterly introspective looks at the state of the game and what the community is demanding from them.

has big things coming in 2024 and beyond, for both the current, so-called retail version of the game and the popular that turns back time to before many of the changes that have happened in Azeroth over the decades. DICE provides new details on the upcoming modes, rewards, and maps Battlefield 2042 players can expect to see within the current extended season, as well as teasing a March launch window for Season 7. It's been quite the turnaround for Battlefield 2042, which had a less than ideal launch back in 2021 as it was criticized heavily by fans over missing features, balancing problems, and many server and technical issues. However, after delaying post-launch content and the game's first season, DICE began to slowly turn things around over time.
