The sale closed at $7 million and includes the rights to eight series titles. Atari and franchise creator Chris Sawyer's deal includes a long-term licensing agreement for the games as well.

Atari has been considered a retro brand for decades now, but it hasn't always leaned into that designation. The Atari 2600 is one of the first systems that often comes to mind with the thought of retro video games. Now the original console has been recreated in exquisite detail by PLAION and Atari with their updated version, the Atari 2600+. It is a beautiful console that is incredibly fun for nostalgic purposes, but even after more than fifty years, it is not flawless in its gameplay mechanics.

Opinions vary on whether 2005's Boiling Point: Road To Hell was ever, could ever have been, a good game. What's clear is that it was interesting, both as an early example of an open-world RPG and as an infamously broken example of Eurojank.
