Star Wars loves its self-references, and fans may have discovered another one. This one could potentially bridge the gap betweenAhsoka and the world of its ongoing Jedi video game series. Might it affect both entries?
The latest Star Wars series, Ahsoka, managed to stick the landing with an ending that sparked tons of speculation after the series had already kept viewers hooked. Featuring a live-action continuation of Star Wars Rebels, which itself was set just before the original film trilogy, it makes sense that the show would have some focus on the past. That focus may have gone much further back than audiences realized. At least, it might have gone far enough back to intersect with lore previously mentioned in the excellent video game Jedi: Fallen Order.
On the Star Wars Speculation subreddit, under sir_PepsiTot recently discussed the possibility that Ahsoka made a nearly direct reference to the Zeffo (or Zeffonians), an ancient race of often Force-sensitive beings native to the planet Zeffo, which was depicted in Jedi: Fallen Order. The thought was that many Zeffo had come to the distant planet Peridea long ago, and now their presence could be felt again. This idea had been discussed many times among fans when Ahsoka season 1 was first airing, but it seems there's always something new to discuss when the topic comes up.
As the story goes, the Zeffo sage Kujet led to the downfall of his people thanks to his lust for power and willingness to embrace the dark side of the Force (which they referred to as the Life Wind). Ahsoka episode 6 featured Zeffo runes that referred to Kujet ruling over Peridea, a planet residing in a far-off galaxy. But more than just an Easter egg, this confirmed that the Zeffo had come to Peridea and possibly stuck around after the rest of their people fell due to the corruption of the dark side.
The users on Reddit speculated that the Zeffo may be important to Ahsoka's future, as a «presence» is felt by both the Dathomirian Nightsisters on Peridea and the former Jedi Baylan Skoll. Those Zeffo who remained on Peridea could have continued practicing the dark side of the Force, increasing their power while remaining in isolation. Given Baylan's focus on power more than trying to adhere to light or dark, it seems plausible, as those who try to stay neutral in the face of good and evil end up showing that they're cool with evil.
The Nightsisters of Dathomir also originated on Peridea, so there's a good chance their part in this story is far from over. A clash between them and the long-lost Zeffo could be an interesting conflict. Granted, there's an equally good chance that none of this is remotely true and Peridea will never be mentioned again. That's the magic of Star Wars. Sometimes
