The hype train for Final Fantasy VII Rebirth already left the station with the surprise launch of a demo earlier this month. Before pulling into the final station on February 29, 2024, Square Enix is making a quick stop for Valentine’s Day. After all, what says love like subconsciously stealing the identity of a girl’s dead, but now not dead, boyfriend while also being oblivious to the affections of your childhood friend?
In a February 13, 2024, post on X (formerly Twitter), the Final Fantasy VII account made a series of Valentine’s cards available. Each card features one of the nine party members with an obligatory appearance by everyone’s favorite villain with mommy issues, Sephiroth.
The cards themselves harken back to a time when I would purchase a box of Batman or Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles cards to hand out in elementary school. Each of the 10 cards features a high-quality render of the character with a delightful pun professing your adoration for the recipient. Suddenly I’m wondering who would get each character and which card best describes my feelings for my real crush. I suppose it doesn’t matter as a nearly 40-year-old man who will just print them all out and dump them on my wife’s desk.
Feel free to click on any of the images above to download whichever strikes your fancy. Even if you won’t be handing them out in class, you can always set them as a phone wallpaper to celebrate the holiday and remind you why you need to save the planet from Sephiroth.

The producer of Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth has revealed that he had to stop playing The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom while working on the latest game in the Final Fantasy 7 Remake trilogy. With Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth recently wrapping up development, the producer has been understandably too busy with his own game to see Link’s adventure to its conclusion.
The development team behind Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth didn’t always know when the game was going to end, and it could have left off at a different point in the original’s story. After almost four years, Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth has finally been released, continuing the story of Cloud, Tifa, Aerith, Sephiroth, and the rest of the cast that fans know and love from the original Final Fantasy 7 and its many spin-offs. Just like Final Fantasy 7 Remake before it, FF7 Rebirth only retells a fraction of the 1997 PlayStation classic’s plot, picking up where its predecessor left off with Cloud and his friends escaping Midgar.
It’s finally here! Yes, Final Fantasy VII Rebirth is finally here, and that means that gamers can FINALLY continue the story of Cloud, Tifa, Aerith, Barrett, Red XIII, and the new friends they’ll make along the way as they travel through the world of Gaia and attempt to stop Sephiroth! But before you go into your adventure, there is one last message you should hear. Specifically, the leads behind this incredible remake title came together for one last “thank you” and a statement about the game’s launch and what it means to them to have this game out amongst players finally.
As the release of Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth began worldwide, Square Enix announced that some copies of the game sold in Japan and Asia were mislabeled, with the Data Disc and the Play Disc having their labeling switched during manufacturing. Square Enix posted a notice on social media and gave affected Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth players instructions on how to get around the issue.
Here’s a story that honestly has a bit of “history” attached to it in a way you might not recall. You see, in the earliest days of gaming, the phrase “going gold” meant that you had finished the game and put everything on a literal gold-style disc so you could hand it off to the people making copies of your game and thus get them into the hands of the public. The problem is that if you gave the people the wrong disc? You were screwed. What does that have to do with Final Fantasy VII Rebirth? Well, in Japan, a certain ‘mistake’ has come to life with how the discs were printed.
One of the biggest fan theories swirling around Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth is that Aerith — famous for dying in the original Final Fantasy 7 — may escape her fate this time around. Square Enix’s remake trilogy is getting to that point in the story, and… well, truthfully we have review code and I could go ask somebody how it plays out, but then I couldn’t sit here and speculate with the rest of you, free of embargoes and spoilers.
In the video game industry, many people stick around with the company they’re attached to for quite a while for multiple reasons. They might just like the company they work at. Or, they might be trying to gain “higher ranks” there. Another reason might be they know that their talents or ideas might be more appreciated at that particular company because they’ve worked there for so long. But, on the other side of things, people sometimes depart gaming companies somewhat randomly, including because they want to “move on to a new challenge,” which is what the creator of Final Fantasy did after a while at Square before it became Square Enix.
The reviews are in for Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth, with the game finding itself as the fifth highest-rated Final Fantasy game to date. When Square Enix first announced its plans to remake Final Fantasy 7, many assumed that the game would be a simple redo of the original, but with upgraded graphics to meet modern standards. Instead, Square Enix went in a very different direction, greatly expanding on the original to the point that the story is being told over the course of three games.
Can you feel it? Can you? If so, you’re likely a gamer who wants to get their hands on Final Fantasy VII Rebirth the moment it comes out on Thursday. That’s a key thing to state: it comes out on Thursday! After years of waiting after the release of the first remake title, the sequel is almost here, and gamers can’t wait to see what the title is like in full. To their credit, Square Enix has been doing its job with hyping up the game to nearly insane levels. They even released a massive number of review codes so that nearly everyone would sing the game’s praises, and it worked!
A humorous new Red Bull ad features the iconic energy drink brand teaming up with Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth, in anticipation of the launch of the long-awaited RPG. With the debut of the next entry in the Final Fantasy 7 Remake saga less than a week away, fans have been treated to plenty of updates about the game. The sequel will bring players outside the city of Midgar, opening up the world of Final Fantasy 7 and introducing new playable characters like Red XIII and Cait Sith. Now, Square-Enix and Red Bull are teaming up to celebrate the game's release.
In another promotional push for the upcoming Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth, Japanese credit card provider Epos revealed special Cloud Strife and Sephiroth VISA cards exclusive to the country. It's not the first piece of Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth merch to have come out, but these credit cards will be great for hardcore fans who want to collect anything that has the game stamped on it.
