Spider-Man 2 is voted PlayStation’s PS5 Game of the Year

Being immortalized as a Lego set or a Funko Pop! is a sign something has truly made it, and while they might not be up there with those stalwarts of the toy world just yet, Squishmallows are nipping at their heels. The soft toys are in high-demand, particularly the licensed ones tied to popular characters, and it seems Spider-Man is about to get a few more. Three new Spidey characters, transformed into Squishmallow's Hug Mee plushes.

The new Ultimate Spider-Man is here, and as promised, it stars a very different version of Peter Parker who is married to Mary Jane Watson, with two kids. Along with Peter and MJ, the new Ultimate Spider-Man #1 checks in with many of the most well known Spider-Man supporting characters and sets up Peter's new origin.

Stephanie Tyler Jones, the model who provided her likeness to Mary Jane for the recent PlayStation Spider-Man games, has spoken out after «some followers crossed boundaries».

Marvel is going Giant-Size in 2024 with a series of one-shots that bring back the classic Marvel Giant-Size branding. And kicking things off is Giant-Size Spider-Man #1, which pits Dylan Brock Venom against Miles Morales Spider-Man in a clash that calls back to the classic rivalry between Dylan's dad Eddie Brock and Miles' mentor Peter Parker.

To the surprise of absolutely no one, Baldur's Gate 3 has claimed the Game of the Year award in the 2023 Steam Awards, along with the crown for Outstanding Story-Rich Game. It probably would have won even more, but the Steam Awards rules limit games to nominations in a maximum of two categories, presumably to avoid any across-the-board ass-kickings.

I'm kidding of course, take your time, but Lego has just made a lot of new sets available to kick off the new year. Most of the sets had been revealed ahead of time, but now that 2024 is officially underway, they're available to buy through the official Lego store.

PlayStation Plus' monthly free games for January 2024 — the new year — have been revealed. The month's offerings include narrative-focused period adventure title A Plague Tale: Requiem, top-down dungeon-crawling action RPG Nobody Saves the World, and third-person vampire-hunting shooterEvil West. The three titles will be available to members of PS Plus Essential, Extra, and Deluxe/ Premium plans, starting January 2. These games can be added to your PS4 and PS5 games library until February 5, after which you'll have to hold on to your PS Plus membership for continued access. If you enjoy any of these titles, you could purchase them for permanent access and continue from where you left off.

Alan Wake 2 and Marvel's Spider-Man 2 may not have much in common on the surface. One is a dark mystery thriller with a story that unfolds alongside its protagonists minds, while the other is a fast-paced and exhilarating action game about bright and colourful superheroes.
