Greetings readers. I’m Mårten, the Game Design Director at Hadoque, a collective of creatives in Sweden. I co-created the core concept of the game and oversee the game design. Tekken 8 for PlayStation 5 is the latest entry in the Tekken series, a legendary 3D fighting game series that has sold more than 55 million copies worldwide. The visuals have been completely overhauled from Tekken 7 with all-new, high-resolution playable character models. Small details like the way water droplets run down the characters’ skin and the subtle movements of their hair and muscles are also highlights of the game.

Hiya, PlayStation foodies. Tj here, serving up a big plate of news for our experimental food art game, Nour: Play With Your Food. It’s a game that you might have seen around before. Perhaps you caught a glimpse of some of our wild ramen and boba tea out in the wilds of the internet or at a game event, but now we’re finally ready to say that you will be able to satisfy your virtual food cravings on September 12 when Nour launches on PS5 and PS4. Great characters, lengthy and engrossing stories, and challenging, strategic gameplay have built Persona into one of the premiere RPG series. To satisfy that hunger for top-class gaming experiences, Atlus is releasing two Persona titles over the coming months: the strategic spinoff Persona 5 Tactica out November 17 and the highly anticipated remake Persona 3 Reload launching in February 2024, both releasing on PS5 and PS4. We had a chance to play both games recently, so read on and learn more about what to expect!

The time to finish them is near once again. While Mortal Kombat 1 is the twelfth entry in the long-running series, NetherRealm Studios has managed to find a way to recreate the iconic fighter yet again, forging a new era for the franchise after the events of Mortal Kombat 11.

Granblue Fantasy is a known player when it comes to mobile games. It dominated the market for nearly a decade, and with new content released weekly since its inception, it is one of gaming’s most expansive MMORPGs. The road to launch is nearing its end with the release of Firewall Ultra almost upon us! On August 24 players will be able to dive into the incredible new world we’ve created for the first time. We can’t wait to see everyone in-game practicing their aim at the shooting range, battling it out with other Contractors online, and crafting their ideal loadout at the weapon bench. Firewall Ultra is a dense game and we think you’re going to love finally getting to dig into what we’ve got in store.

Last July Madison was released on PS4 and PS5, both digital and physical. One year later, we’re excited to share new details on Madison VR gameplay. Let’s take a look at the horrors that await you when it launches on PlayStation VR2 this Halloween season.

NHL 24 brings the rush and fatigue of high-pressure hockey to life with a suite of new gameplay features. The Exhaust Engine is powered by Frostbite and combines the Sustained Pressure and Goalie Fatigue systems to form concentrated pockets of opportunity that allow even more in-game situations. The Sustained Pressure System triggers for offensive players who maintain offensive pressure long enough, lowering opponent’s attributes for a limited time to open up creative opportunities. The Goalie Fatigue System then uses the same offensive pressure to grow goalie fatigue that affects how they react to shots; 75 new goalie animations have been introduced to bring this to life on the ice.

Pick up a sword and hone your martial art skills in Broken Edge. When we kicked off production for this game, we had two big goals in mind. Our first goal was tackling the hurdles that held back PvP melee combat in VR, while our second goal was to move out of the way! We’re letting actual martial arts techniques shine in the game. While it’s not the first PvP sword fighting title in VR, it innovates by incorporating authentic techniques found across all martial arts: spacing (footwork), real-time strikes, and fatal attacks.

With Moving Out 2 coming to PS4 and PS5 just a day away, we thought it would be interesting to go through some of the big additions we made to the game, how we carried across the inclusiveness and diversity from the first game and talk about how our design process enabled that. 

When one thinks of FromSoftware, their mind likely jumps to its many action role-playing Souls/soulslike titles. While those games are a massive part of the studio’s legacy, the cult-favorite Armored Core series is equally crucial to its long-term success. By committing to consistent, almost yearly entries from 1997 to 2013, FromSoftware found its footing in the gaming world and learned many valuable lessons from the series that appear in its work today–the suite of customization options, the focus on worldbuilding, and the commitment to cater to a dedicated core audience.

It’s time to see which PS5, PS4, PS VR2, PS VR, and free-to-play games topped the download charts this month. The PS5 charts saw dramatic movement, with newcomer Remnant II breaking into the top three. PS VR2 newcomer Synapse and free-to-play game Naraka: Bladepoint also ascended their respective lists.

There were plenty of indie titles to pick from this time around. From fresh ideas to fresher food which game was the biggest surprise for July? 

We have been steadily revealing the roster for Tekken 8, and the excitement each reveal has generated with fans has been amazing. At EVO 2023, we announced that Azucena, a Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) fighter from Peru, and Raven, a secret intelligence agent specializing in ‘ninjutsu,’ will join Tekken 8 coming to PlayStation 5. With our latest Mm Original, Tren, out today in Dreams, we decided to catch up with Media Molecule creative director (and BeechCorp CEO) John Beech. Here, he talks to us about bringing his personal project in-house to Mm, how his childhood experiences of play inspired the toy train game, and how his relationship with toys and play has changed as he’s grown from a little kid into a big one.

The fighting game genre has many notable franchises. One of the earliest to earn iconic status is Mortal Kombat. It punched its way onto the arcade scene in 1992 and quickly found its way to the home console market, wowing players with at-the-time realistic visuals and controversial over–the–top gore. That controversial content ushered in the now-industry standard ratings system, but Mortal Kombat’s legacy has been defined by much more than that. For over 11 mainline installments, the series built gameplay innovations and an ever-growing roster atop its core 1-on-1 fighting system.
