Konami has announced a new Silent Hill Transmission is coming this week. That means we could finally see the Silent Hill 2 remake release date announced. Plus, there is more information on the new Return to Silent Hill movie.
The Silent Hill series is just starting its revival tour. Its publisher, Konami, has released a short PS5 game and given us a glimpse of Pyramid Head in the Return to Silent Hill movie. But news on the other games, and crucially, news on the Silent Hill 2 remake.
But the live stream set to air on May 30, 2024, holds promises of fresh updates on the games, the film, and merchandise relating to Silent Hill.
There are a few projects on the go at the moment, with NoCode’s Silent Hill Townfall and a period entry, Silent Hill F, also largely missing since their initial reveals. Silent Hill The Short Message was released on PS5 earlier this year, and it seems like it could be connected to Silent Hill F.
But the Silent Hill 2 remake release date is causing the most angst. Fans of the original have been split on Polish developer Bloober Team‘s taking the reins on the beloved psychological horror classic’s remake.
Fellow horror game icon Resident Evil has enjoyed multiple successful remakes of its classic titles. But fans of Silent Hill aren’t entirely confident in Bloober Team’s ability to deliver something on par with the original.
Meanwhile, the movie Return to Silent Hill was first announced in October 2022. It will also be retelling the story of Silent Hill 2. Christophe Gans, who directed the 2006 Silent Hill movie starring Radha Mitchell, Sean Bean, and Laurie Holden, will direct the film.
The film will star Jeremy Irvine as James Sunderland and Hannah Emily Anderson as Mary.
The plots of the game and the movie follow the same path. A mysterious letter from his wife Mary calls James back to Silent Hill. Once there, he finds a once-recognizable town transformed by an unknown evil.
In his search for Mary, James encounters terrifying creatures and a disturbing mystery. As he descends deeper into the darkness the secrets he uncovers lead to a horrifying truth. James finds himself struggling to hold on long enough to save his one true love.
We’ll just have to wait until Thursday to find out if we get a Silent Hill 2 remake release date.

The team of ex-Silent Hill developers known as Bokeh Game Studio gave horror fans a lengthy look at their new game Slitterhead on Friday at Summer Game Fest, revealing something fans might not have expected. Slitterhead looks like less of a creeping, psychological horror game in the vein of Silent Hill or Siren, and more of an action game involving swords and guns.
Unbroken Studios and Warner Bros’ Harry Potter: Quidditch Champions will launch on 3rd September 2024, as announced at this year’s Summer Game Fest with a new trailer. It’s still a game about the Potterverse’s broomstick-riding sport, allowing players to play against the computer and each other across various single player and multiplayer modes, and it’s still a new instalment in the world of an author, JK Rowling, who has an on-going track record for endorsing transphobia.

While the waiting time between new console game releases can seem to drag on forever sometimes, new games are always released on Steam.
Bloober Team’s Silent Hill 2 remake had a strong showing at the recent Silent Hill Transmission, with its sound design and presentation praised even amid frame rate issues. While it remains faithful to the original, some staff members who worked on the original game, like monster designer Masahiro Ito and composer Akira Yamaoka, were looking for more changes.
Dragon Age Dreadwolf, the highly-anticipated next entry in the Dragon Age series, is said to be fully revealed later this week.

The remake has finally announced its 2024 release date. A total reimagining of one of the most popular and well-received games of all time, all eyes have been on since its announcement nearly two years prior. Under development by Bloober Team, the remake promises a complete revamp to the original's harrowing visuals and haunting story, bringing the groundbreaking psychological horror game to a whole new generation.
Bloober Team says its upcoming remake of Silent Hill 2 isn’t going to make too many changes to the story, though given how long it’s been since the original game came out, it’s no surprise that where the gameplay is concerned, the remake is going to be much more ambitious with the changes it makes. To go along with its recent release date announcement and extensive gameplay showing, Bloober Team and Konami have shared more new details on Silent Hill 2 in a PlayStation Blog post, discussing some of the new elements that are being added in the remake.
