Shadows of the Damned: Hella Remastered playable at PAX East 2024

While may already have some fun concepts for its New Game+ mode,one dedicated fan has conceived of an idea that would make the RPG even more replayable. Given that Bethesda Game Studios placed a good amount of work in creating plenty of activities for players to enjoy during their adventure around the galaxy, it stands to reason that the developer would give some extra thought to how users could keep going after rolling credits. The New Game+ mode is significantly better than the studio's other projects but, like most things, it could be even better.

Shadows Of The Damned launched during a fascinating part of the PS3 era, where EA suddenly started publishing smaller titles, like the equally iconic Alice: Madness Returns. The business model didn’t last long, but we’re still grateful for the aforementioned third-person shooter, which was co-designed by industry icons Suda51 and Shinji Mikami. And as previously reported it’s getting a PS5 and PS4 remaster, due out later this year.

PAX East is always a treat. A smaller, more intimate show than PAX West, PAX East is a good way to take the industry’s temperature and see a ton of exciting new games from both major publishers and small indies that are doing exciting new work you may not have heard of before. I spent four days at PAX East this year, seeing a ton of cool games both on the show floor and behind closed doors. Due to hit shelves sometime in 2024, fans of the original 2011 title are eager to return to the bizarre world of Garcia Hotspur. Apparently, the game’s writer Suda51 is also extremely interested.
