Returnal developer Housemarque has this morning posted a cryptic tweet teasing… something for tomorrow. The team out of Finland uploaded a black and white image seemingly featuring Returnal protagonist Selene's eyes reflected onto broken shards of glass, then teasing news «tomorrow» in a yellow font. You can view the tweet below.
Tomorrow, 30th April 2024, marks the three-year anniversary of Returnal's release on PS5. That's probably enough time for the developer to have a new game ready to show, but such an announcement is usually saved for significant events like a PlayStation Showcase. As such, given the relevance of tomorrow's date, the news is more likely something to do with a development documentary, similar to what Naughty Dog has done with its two The Last of Us games.
Released in 2021, Returnal continues to be one of the PS5 generation's biggest highlights so far, with a very fast-paced rogue-like gameplay loop pleasing Housemarque fans. In our Returnal PS5 review, we awarded the game a 9/10 and concluded: «All the console's bells and whistles enhance the experience, making this a real showpiece for the hardware.»
We then continued: «But more than that, the game is a force to be reckoned with; the breathless combat, super slick gameplay, and the subtle but unsettling story combine for an experience of surprising scale.» It was later ported to PC and received a free Ascension update with co-op features.
Either way, we'll bring you word of what Housemarque has to share here on the site tomorrow. What do you think the developer is teasing? Share your prediction in the comments below.
Liam grew up with a PlayStation controller in his hands and a love for Metal Gear Solid. Nowadays, he can be found playing the latest and greatest PS5 games as well as supporting Derby County. That last detail is his downfall.
Anything Returnal/Housemarque related is welcome (easily my game of this generation so far)
Awesome! Returnal is one of the GOATs for PS5, very much looking forward to what they have in the pipeline!
Unfortunately not a game for me, but I respect what they did with it and it looked to be the kind of thing that pushes the system to feel next gen and be a unique experience.
If they made a less rogue-like loopy entry in the series, or just a slightly more mainstream sci fi experience, then maybe that would peak my interest. But still look forward to seeing what they come out with next for the benefit of gaming overall.
Returnal wasn't quite in my wheelhouse, but loved everything else they did so am looking forward to this.
I really hope for a Returnal sequel (whenever it’s revealed). What a phenomenal game.
The image implies they’ve broken the fourth wall and announcing PSVR2 support.

It feels like it's been a while since we've had an exciting new single-player FPS on PS5. Sure, there've been a few releases here and there, like last year's Warhammer 40,000: Boltgun, but nothing has really had the same impact as when DOOM Eternal or Metro Exodus released. However, Luna Abyss could be that next game with its rock-solid gunplay and breakneck pace.
Well, it's been quite some time since we wrote about Ghost of Tsushima updates, but the open world action game has a new patch on PS5 and PS4. As outlined by developer Sucker Punch, update 2.19 tweaks the title for crossplay support, ahead of the PC version's release on the 16th May. PlayStation users will be able to team up with PC players in the game's co-op Legends mode.

Fans of the acclaimed Ori games may have to wait a long time for the next entry in the franchise. For this brand-new IP, the studio is committed to a longer support cycle.

Housemarque turned a lot of people into fans of its work with 2021’s Returnal, which, of course, means the studio’s next project is going to have more eyes on it than any of its past titles. But while it doesn’t look like the developer is ready to share details on its next big title just yet, it looks like another announcement related to Returnal might be coming soon.
