Housemarque is Seemingly Teasing a Returnal-Related Announcement for Tomorrow

Stellar Blade is close to a month old now, and it seems developer Shift Up might be teasing an upcoming update. Taking to Twitter, the studio recently tweeted out an imagine of what looks like a close up of an in-game enemy model, with the image teasing, “get ready for next week.”

The Sony Group will hold its next Corporate Strategy Meeting on May 22nd at 9:30 PM EDT/10:30 AM JST. Lasting for 1.5 hours, it will feature chairman and CEO Kenichiro Yoshida and president, COO and CFO Hiroki Totoki as its speakers and stream live via Sony’s website. The announcement tweet teases “Beyond the boundaries” and not much else.

Sony announced its full-year results for 2023 earlier this week, with the PlayStation business posting continued solid growth that was basically in line with its revised estimates from a few months ago, albeit significantly undershooting the sky-high estimates it had originally forecast at the start of the year.

Sony has replaced outgoing CEO Jim Ryan with an all-star tag-team partnership: Hermen Hulst will lead PS Studios and its intellectual property, while Hideaki Nishino will focus on hardware and services. The pair, together, will be tasked with leading PlayStation into a new era, as PS5 enters the latter half of its lifecycle and the company explores new initiatives, like PC, mobile, and television.

God of War Ragnarok is amongst the next batch of first-party titles Sony plans to port to PC, a new report from PS Plus leaker Billbil-Kun claims. They say the official announcement could be made as soon as this month, which could line up with a potential PlayStation Showcase taking place in May.

After highlighting the success of Helldivers 2, which sold 12 million units as of May 5th, Sony is looking forward to two other live service games this year. These include Bungie’s Destiny 2: The Final Shape, out on June 4th, and Firewalk Studios’ Concord, which is still launching in 2024.

A new Helldivers 2 patch is here and will hopefully put the whole PlayStation Network account linking debacle to bed once and for all, as it's now been added as an explicitly "optional" setting.

A PlayStation Showcase could be happening before the end of the month. At least, that's what it sounds like based on a letter from Hiroki Totoki, who took over as Chairman of PlayStation after Hermen Hulst and Hideaki Nishino were named CEOs.

Helldivers 2 lead Johan Pilestedt has given us our first look at an upcoming cape - one which references the most controversial moment in the game's short history.
