Dambuster Studios, the studio behind Dead Island 2, has good news for the game regarding its future. Dead Island 2 has been through a lot, even before release, but it seems things are looking up.
Back in 2014, Dead Island 2 was revealed to the public at Sony’s E3 press conference by following a runner taking a stroll down the pier and slowly turning into a zombie. Bits and pieces surrounding the game came out over time, yet information became stagnant and the project went into development hell. Different game studios like Sumo Digital and Yager Development took on the title, yet none worked out. Then, in 2019, Deep Silver and Dambuster Studios took over and Dead Island 2 was re-revealed at Gamescom 2022, a full eight years after its original announcement, and released on April 21, 2023.
Since its launch, players have been enjoying the gore-filled gameplay of Dead Island 2 and have wondered what would be next. On May 8, Dambuster Studios released a post on the official Dead Island 2 website celebrating a year since its launch. In said post, it addressed the future of the game, stating that the next few months will be full of exciting updates and for fans to stay tuned.
Also mentioned in the post is that the game has amassed 7 million players and zombie death totals up to 24 billion. RegardingDead Island 2’s reputation, Dambuster Studios brings up their recent nominations at the2023 Game Awards and BAFTAs in the Action and British game categories, respectively. Dead Island 2 has had two DLCs so far, Haus and SoLA, though it seems they may not be the final ones for the game.
