Remnant 2: Best Weapons & Where To Find Them

As Wayfinder heads into Early Access today after a few delays, the servers will likely see an influx of players, as new Wayfinders join the fight to push back the Gloom. Last weekend press were invited to take part in testing out the game ahead of the Early Access release. We were given access to every character that will be available at the launch of Early Access, alongside each of the craftable weapons, and a smattering of Echoes and Artifacts to choose from to test out the game at “max level”. What transpired after being given max level characters left me both excited and concerned for the Early Access launch. Let’s get into why.

Firestorm is one of the best and worst Weapon Mods in Remnant 2. This mod generates a giant fire tornado that sucks in everything — including you — and completely wipes everything but the toughest boss enemies. This power is so strong you’ll need to respect it. If you’re not careful, the burning cyclone can kill you in an instant. It even tracks, stun locking large enemies, making this a perfect choice for boss fights and exploration.

Your build is everything in Remnant 2. Unless you’re able to see into the future, you may need to reset your spent traits to experiment with powerful combos — you never know what gear you’ll find while exploring the randomly generated biomes of the multiverse. You can reset your earned points at any time by crafting an Orb of Undoing at Ward 13, your main hub of the game. By using the Orb of Undoing you’ll reset all your points, giving you a second chance to reallocate them as you see fit. This can completely change your playstyle, so it’s important to use the orb wisely.

Remnant II is doing very well for itself. Just yesterday, Gunfire Games and Gearbox Publishing announced that the Soulslike third-person shooter game already sold over a million units, with PC registering over double the first game's concurrent player peak on Steam.

Want to be as tough as you can possibly be in Remnant 2? You’re going to need the Leto Mark 2 Armor Set, a hidden set of armor that is ridiculously heavy but provides the best protection in the entire multiverse. To really make this set viable, you’ll need an accessory to fight back against the extreme encumbrance — there are multiple rings and amulets that can help you with that. Unlock the Alchemist in Remnant 2 by exploring the creepy streets of the Losomn biome. This bonus class gives you additional potions to buff yourself and others while improving your consumable skills. Getting this hidden archetype involves stumbling into a random event while running around the streets of Losomn, one of the later biomes of the game. Near a sewer grate, an unseen creature can drag your character into the underground and initiate a bonus boss fight. If you can overcome the optional boss, you’ll earn the key item required to unlock the Alchemist.

The trait system and progression blockers are being fixed.

Remnant 2 is filled with places and characters for players to meet, each with a different task or use for the player. Some are a bit more outlandish than others, including the Fae known as Nimue. Like many other aspects of the game, this NPC can be tricky to find if you don’t know where to look, meaning you could miss out on meeting a great character and potentially taking on a quest that will reap great rewards.

The school holidays have begun which, predictably means that it’s been raining and drizzling up and down the country. Luckily, we have the technology to deal with the rain – we can sit inside playing video games. This week I’ve been playing loads of multiplayer, first in Exoprimal, and second in Remnant II. I’ve had a whole hell of a good time with them both, though one is clearly superior than the other. Can you guess which one it is?
