It doesn't take a lot for your party in Baldur's Gate 3 to get down and dirty. No, I don't mean it in that way, but I suppose that's true as well. Putting that aside for now - hygiene. The Baldur's Gate 3 gang certainly struggles to maintain it. Thankfully, players have found a solution that doesn't require resting every five minutes.
Turns out, lobbing a bottle of water at someone will clean them off just fine. As long as you get the "wet" status effect, all of the blood and gore will be wiped clean from your target, making them look a whole lot more presentable in cutscenes. Players are taking full advantage of this, keeping topped on water bottles in case they need to give everyone a quick hose down.

I just tested it out, and sure enough, Karlach throwing a water bottle at my character was enough to clean her up in time for the next cutscene. I mean, c'mon, we can't do a long rest every time someone needs a shower, right?
It's a neat little detail from Larian Studios, clearly putting some thought into how players might experiment with the game's various features. Especially since the game never tells you that water can work in this way.
Of course, the main reason to keep stocked up on water is to help you out in combat, since chucking it over an enemy will help you deal more electric damage. That being said... there are plenty of ways to hurt a bad guy and not many to keep your party clean. Priorities gang, come on.
With so many little features like this to discover, there might actually be an even more convenient way to maintain basic hygiene that we're all missing. Perhaps there's a side quest where you get the party camp basic plumbing. We could definitely do with it. Especially with how many party members seem to want to do the nasty on the ground. Like, really? I know we're already covered in blood and guts, but let's have some standards here, yeah?
Speaking of appearances, we might be able to change ours soon. That's right, if you're not happy with your custom character's hair, you won't have to restart the game anymore. This comes from Larian's head of publishing, Michael Douse, who said that "things are being cooked" when a fan asked for the devs to add a customisation feature. It's not clear when we can expect this to be added, but hopefully, it's not too far behind.
