PS5 sales in the UK have jumped 60% year-to-date while sales of both Xbox Series X|S and Nintendo Switch are down compared to last year.

Another day, another impressive PS5 achievement. Today it’s the turn of European tracker GSD, which has reported a 244 per cent increase in sales year-over-year on Sony’s system this July, following various price promotions right across the world. It should be noted that this hardware data only covers select countries like France, Italy, and Portugal, with major markets like the UK and Germany excluded. Of course, we know how things have been going in Deutschland of late.
So far this year, PS5 sales are up an enormous 203 per cent across the tracked GSD territories, which underlines the seriously impressive growth the system has been enjoying this year.
In terms of software, evergreens like Grand Theft Auto 5, FIFA 23, and even Red Dead Redemption 2 continue to sell incredibly well among digital and physical retailers. Perhaps of some concern to Square Enix and RPG fans, Final Fantasy 16 could only just squeeze into the Top 20, which presumably aligns with recent comments from publisher Square Enix about the game failing to meet expectations.
A true PlayStation veteran, Sammy's covered the world of PS gaming for years, with an enormous Trophy count to prove it. He also likes tennis games way more than you.

Again with this.
Doesn't surprise me, PlayStation is the best place to play right now.
The availability of stock with a price cut must have helped with the demand.
Wonder if the awful wet weather across northern Europe this July and August have helped with parents buying one to shut the kids up if they are cooped up this summer.
Factor in the massive success of Switch and this is why the Microsoft board will eventually take the Xbox brand into software only territory with GP and the cloud. They just cannot compete with these numbers in a hardware environment.
@naruball Yea, this story was basically a misunderstanding/translation issue.
Also it should be noted that in regards to the far more important digital sales FFXVI was 4th in NA and 7th in Europe on PSN in July.
@PixelDragon
MS Seems to be losing the momentum with cloud gaming with Geforce now being a very good product with multiple price points including free.
I have a gigabit connection with 100 megabit upload and I have played cyberpunk on an intel NUC with zero problems with GF Now.
Add the insane descion to release the Xbox series S and demand parity must be gimping games.
I suspect that one of the issues with BG3 is that in act 3 there are so many NPCs and so many video scenes the transitions etc is pushing decent PCs let alone the S.
Everybody getting ready for Baldur's Gate 3 lol.
@ChrisDeku It's a shame, isn't it?

It was a solid August for video games in the UK, driven by continued strong sales of PS5.
Do you ever think about what certain people had achieved at your age, or worse, much younger? It's a pretty sobering tangent to wander down as one desperately tries to sleep in a stuffy room — and there's definitely a mosquito in here. What? Anyway, 13-year-old Max Trest is developing a co-op action game exclusively for PS5.
Sony’s engagement with enthusiasts is non-existent in the PS5 era, so of course we know very little about the imminent Marvel’s Spider-Man 2. We have to accept what we can get, then: like these new images of Peter Parker and Miles Morales in their respective default suits. As you’d expect from developer Insomniac Games, both outfits look ludicrously detailed.
There has been some surprising news this week for fans of Sid Meier’s Civilization VI: the Leader Pass DLC has been released on all console platforms, including the PS4.
Hogwarts Legacy and Armored Core VI: Fires of Rubicon have swapped positions with one another to hand the Harry Potter simulator a top spot in the latest UK physical sales charts, while FromSoftware's mech game slips to fifth. The only new entry this week is at least an interesting one: the Premium Edition Upgrade for Starfield. This is a code in a box that grants five days of early access to the Bethesda RPG as well as the first story expansion, and it managed to rank seventh last week.
Anonymous;Code is the latest visual novel in the Science Adventure series. It takes place in 2037 Tokyo and focuses on Pollon Takaoka, a young hacker who's part of a group called Nakano Symphonies. Pollon doesn’t particularly enjoy being a hacker and isn’t even that skilled at it, but he does it along with his friend Cross to earn money and help people out.
Sony’s previously announced Remote Play portable for PS5, the PS Portal, will officially launch on 15th November – as dated overnight. Pre-orders are open now in select countries via the platform holder’s own direct-to-consumer storefront, PS Direct. The manufacturer says pre-orders will open at other retailers on 29th September.
One of the worst-received PS Plus Essential refreshes has now arrived: Saints Row, Generation Zero, and Black Desert are available to download across the UK and Europe, with the USA set to join the fun later in the day. They are yours to keep for as long as you maintain a subscription to the base tier, and they'll be available for claiming until Tuesday, 3rd October 2023.
Last week, French outlet Dealabs reported new details about EA Sports and Codemasters' upcoming WRC game. The article shared information on the game's release date, pricing, and editions you can purchase, as well as what will appear on the front cover. Assuming it's all legit, it pointed to a proper reveal in the near future, and now, the game will finally be shown tomorrow, 5th September 2023.
It looks like an updated version of Ubisoft’s iconic PS2 era platformer Beyond Good & Evil could be coming to the PS5, as a listing for a 20th Anniversary Edition has been uncovered on the US ratings board website, the ESRB. While the game hasn’t been officially announced by the French publisher, it’s rare for classifications like this to appear erroneously.
PSVR2 hit C-Smash VRS will receive a huge overhaul on 14th September 2023 that adds new modes, more than 40 new stages, and a host of other features in a free update. The big highlight is an Infinity mode, which as the name suggests, tasks you with keeping the ball in play for as long as possible while avoiding oncoming hazards. You can then take the mode online in two-player co-op, as detailed in the trailer above.
