Persona 3 Reload Producer Explains Why There's No Female Protagonist

For many, The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom is still seen as a kind of Breath of the Wild 1.5 — a half-sequel that builds on 2017's revolutionary hit but, in using the same Hyrule as its overworld, doesn't fully transform it into something new.

Producer and director of Final Fantasy 14, Naoki Yoshida, has recently teased a «secret» reason behind the upcoming Dawntrail expansion's references to Final Fantasy 9. Final Fantasy 14's Dawntrail expansion was first revealed last July, which is the game's fifth major expansion pack. This expansion sees players taking to the seas and visiting a brand-new land called Tural, set in the West.

Persona 3 Reload's developers have teased what to expect of the additional content in the upcoming Episode Aigis: The Answer DLC, including new songs, Fusion Spell Theurgies, and even socialization events. Shortly after Persona 3 Reload launched this past February 2, Atlus revealed a post-launch DLC plan, with the Expansion Pass adding three waves of content.

Persona 3 Reload unfortunately won't be receiving the playable female protagonist, Kotone, seen in another version of the classic, and now, the game's producer has apologized for the exclusion. 

It seems odd that Activision would release Call of Duty Warzone Mobile when it already has a hugely successful Call of Duty mobile game making millions of dollars for the company. But from a business perspective it makes sense. Call of Duty Mobile, the 2019 mobile first-person shooter spin-off that has seen 650 million downloads since launch, is developed by Tencent-owned TiMi Studio Group, and so not all the huge profits it generates benefit Activision’s bottom line. Call of Duty Warzone Mobile, on the other hand, is developed entirely in-house at Activision, and so the company gets a bigger slice of the revenue pie every time a player drops cash on a battle pass.

Another prominent leaker has claimed that Persona 6 will be launching on the Nintendo Switch successor console. A number of rumors have been flying around Persona 6, despite how it hasn't been officially announced by Atlus yet. Many leakers and insiders have given fans a lot of different pieces of information over the years, which makes things difficult to pinpoint what is accurate or not. The latest rumors regarding Persona 6 revolve around the platforms it will supposedly launch on.

It's bad news for anyone who was holding onto the hope that Persona 3 Reload might add in a female protagonist eventually, as it's now been confirmed that there's "no chance" of it happening. 

Persona 3 Reload's producer, Kazuhisa Wada, has finally put a pin in the possibility of Persona 3 Portable's highly-requested FeMC, Kotone Shiomi, being added to the game as DLC.
