It’s no secret that Palworld is taking the world by storm, as the developers at Pocket Pair are celebrating over 4 million copies of the game sold in only a matter of days.
Palworld is the latest and greatest creature collection survival game, which is made apparent by the massive amount of concurrent players on just Steam alone. On January 19, 2024, Palworld released on both Xbox and PC, and within mere moments of the game's release, it had over 500,000 players in game.
The “Pokemon with Guns' ' seems to have taken everyone by surprise, as there were a lot of skeptics who even called the game a scam at one point due to the devs track record. Since then the game has reached over 1.2 million concurrent players on Steam, making it the second highest paid game in Steams’ history to ever reach numbers of this caliber.
Now, this massive success doesn’t come without a few bugs and failures, as Xbox users have been experiencing a lot of issues with the in-game multiplayer feature. More so, almost all of the multiplayer servers have gone down at some point, but is this shocking with the amount of stress on the servers?
Even still, Pocket Pair has addressed the issue, and apologizes to fans for the mayhem and downtime since release stating,
“Server Outage Notice: As the number of concurrent players across all platforms exceeded 1.3 million, the Epic Online Service is currently experiencing outages due to an unusually high load worldwide, single player is unaffected by this outage.”
It will be interesting to see where the game ends up over the next couple of weeks, but so far, the devs have seen major success.
Palworld has passed another impressive milestone, with more than two million concurrent players on Steam recorded.
Earlier this evening, The Pokémon Company issued a press release seemingly addressing the recent conversation surrounding the new Steam Early Access release Palworld and its suspiciously familiar-looking collectible creatures.
The dream continues for independent Japanese developer Pocketpair as Palworld has now sold over seven million units in just five days since its early access launch. The open world survival crafting game with monster collection mechanics had sold one million in eight hours, two in twenty-four, three in forty, five million in three days, and six in four days. What's even more impressive is that, according to Geoff Keighley, these sales are for the Steam version alone. They do not account for sales on the Microsoft Store via PC/Xbox, nor do they account for Game Pass player numbers.
Pocketpair’s Palworld continues with its hot streak, selling over seven million copies since launching into early access on January 19th. This is roughly a day after crossing six million units sold. For comparison’s sake, Pokemon Legends: Arceus sold 6.5 million copies in its first week on the Nintendo Switch.
Total sales for open-world survival crafting game Palworld have surpassed seven million units in only five days after its Early Access launch, developer Pocket Pair announced. (Update 1:40 a.m.: According to Geoff Keighley, Pocket Pair has confirmed that these sales numbers are Steam only, and do not include Xbox, Microsoft Store for PC, or Game Pass numbers.)
Palworld now has the second highest concurrent player count in Steam‘s history.
Pocket Pair's megahit survival title Palworld has overtaken Counter-Strike 2 as the game on Steam with the second-most concurrent players of all time. Palworld quickly became one of the most successful Steam games ever upon its release, and the hype isn't going anywhere as it continues to smash record upon record.
Palworld just keeps going on an absolutely incredible ride toward the top. The 'Pokémon with guns' survival crafting game released last Friday by Japanese developer Pocketpair has now sold six million units in just four days. It has also surpassed 1.5 million concurrent Steam players, inching ever closer to the second spot on the all-time chart. Counter-Strike 2 managed 1.8 million nine months ago, around the time of its launch, but it's a free-to-play game. Moreover, at this rate, Palworld could very well blaze past it during the next weekend.

I'm still working my way through the grim realities of Steam mega-hit Palworld, but as developers Pocketpair begin working through their 50,000-strong pile of bug reports, I'd hazard to add one more to the pile: please, something must be done about this game's ruthless police force, who are so dogged in their pursuit of evildoers that they literally will not stop chasing you until you've been shot dead.
