Palworld Early Access sales top seven million in five days [Update: Sales are Steam only]

Turbo Golf Racing will leave Early Access and launch for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, Xbox One, and PC via Steam and Microsoft Store in Q2 2024, publisher Secret Mode and developer Hugecalf Studios announced. The PlayStation 5 version is newly announced.

I’ve spent the last ten days fully immersed in Palworld. If you are blissfully unaware, Palworld is a survival game that borrows elements from popular survival games like Rust, a little “Souls-like” inspiration, some Breath of the Wild, and, of course, Pokemon. Is the whole more significant than the sum of its parts? Is Palworld worthy of the hype? Well, fortunately, we are here to let you know!

Palworld, the viral hit action-adventure survival title that has come under intense scrutiny over the alleged likeness of its in-game creatures to the cute monsters from Pokémon, could be staring at legal trouble. The Pokémon Company, which manages the iconic franchise, has finally released an official statement addressing the swirling plagiarism accusations against Palworld, albeit without naming the game directly. Palworld released in early access on January 19 and quickly took the Steam charts by storm, with developers Pocketpair confirming Thursday that the game had sold over eight million copies.

Total sales for the Steam version of open-world survival crafting game Palworld have surpassed eight million units in less than six days after its Early Access launch, developer Pocket Pair announced.

The dream continues for independent Japanese developer Pocketpair as Palworld has now sold over seven million units in just five days since its early access launch. The open world survival crafting game with monster collection mechanics had sold one million in eight hours, two in twenty-four, three in forty, five million in three days, and six in four days. What's even more impressive is that, according to Geoff Keighley, these sales are for the Steam version alone. They do not account for sales on the Microsoft Store via PC/Xbox, nor do they account for Game Pass player numbers.

Palworld developer Pocketpair has laid out a roadmap of improvements for the early access game.

Pocketpair’s Palworld continues with its hot streak, selling over seven million copies since launching into early access on January 19th. This is roughly a day after crossing six million units sold. For comparison’s sake, Pokemon Legends: Arceus sold 6.5 million copies in its first week on the Nintendo Switch.

Note: This review is specifically of the PC version of Palworld available through Steam. Because the Xbox version and the PC version available via the Microsoft Store (both on Game Pass) has significantly more issues and different features , which the developer says is due to the certification process, we will post a separate review of that version later this week.
